David Unsworth - Temporary Manager

We’re not in a relegation battle.

Unsworth ticks a lot of boxes for me, but we’ll see more of him in the next couple of weeks. I wouldn’t right him off just yet.

No one is in a relegation battle yet I suppose, but you know where we are in the league, you know how dire we have been. If that carries on, we sink. Simple as.

It's all Brian Kidd at Blackburn.

I too think it's a big ask for unsworth. But in his press interview unsworth immediately lifted the fanbase about how passionate he is about the club and the prospect of the job. Judging by our efffoets tonight, he's lifted also the morale of the players who must have been at such a low ebb, following Sunday's thrashing. He might well not be the man for the job (full time) but he is the right man at this time to lift the players and the fanbase.

Yer no problem with him being temporary, but not until the end of the season. Remember Newcastle wrote a season off by getting Joe Kinnear in until May, and how that ended up.

Forget tonight (although he did well to turn it at HT). Chelsea down there is not a serious proposition for us right now.

Leicester is the first test...and not THE test either. Lyon over there is a massive hurdle too.

He'll be judged on:

Leicester (A)
Watford (H)
possibly Palace (A)

I honestly don't think we should give him a job or not on these results. Craig Shakespeare won his first five at Leicester then in his next 14 he couldn't get as many points as he did in his first five games.

He isn't qualified to manage a Premier League Club; he needs to earn his spurs in the lower leagues as a minimum in my opinion.

If that carries on, yes. But we’ve seen an improvement after he’s been in charge for 2 days. No one could have done much more than he has in that time.

The next 3 games are massive for him, if we lose them all he’ll be out. If we start winning then it’d be a risky decision to replace him.

Not a chance he gets Palace, unless we win the next 3 games.

If he does well then he should get it till the end of the season and then a more experienced manager, who’s a winner, should be brought in.
Care taker managers who get brought in and then get the job full time seem to very rarely work out and are usually sacked within 12 months.

My opinion has always been: sack the Dutchman...take Unsworth on to the end of the season with a contract drawn up to that effect if he starts off well...survey the situation end of season.

These players need stability, not three managers in as many weeks.
