Ronald Koeman discussion

I agree to an extent mate, he's trying to fix something broken and unplanned.

But the club are a thundering disgrace going into the season without a centre forward. Any manager in the world would find it hard to win a game without a forward. So for me any criticism isn't at his doorstep.

Of all the idiotic things I've seen Everton do, this is probably the most idiotic.
Don't understand this thinking.

If we were creating chances and had nobody to put them away I'd agree, but we are just totally poop and create little to nothing per game.

Even if we had a striker right now, he would barely be involved in the game because we struggle to get the ball in the final third let alone the box!

Yeah, no, from me mate.

I don't think people actually realise just how close we are to the precipice at the moment. We aren't where we are due to just playing the top teams, or injuries, or rotten luck. We are where we are because we are dire.

This is a team who are absolutely shell-shocked. This team are in no fit state to scrap for points. This team could not handle a relegation fight.

We cannot run the risk of being dragged into a relegation battle, we simply can't. If we give Koeman more time then that is what will happen. We are falling fast.

The only way to arrest it is acting now, acting early. The damage being done to the mentality of this team is devastating and will take time to remedy. The longer we wait, the harder it will be to fix.

Nah but there's a wider context to it.
Sure the be all and end all is scoring goals but a strikers job is so much more.
-holding the ball so we can build attacks.
-channel runs
-peeling off defenders creating gaps in the opponents defence.

All the above have no value in goals for the striker themselves but benefit the team hugely.

Yes, the complacency is worrying.

We have not won away since January and two of our next two games are on the road.

In between those games we face Arsenal at home.....and we now know matches like that are ones where victory is not “expected”.

Those three games bring us nicely up to the next international break and if things are still as dire I believe Moshiri will have no choice but to act.

Selling Beardsley for 1m when he didn't want to leave ... to raise funds for boon Dublin ( who we didn't even sign) is up there

Alternatively, they're not putting the crosses in because they no there's nobody there to finish it off...perhaps. Chicken & egg stuff almost.

Either way, dire.

The more I think about it, the less reason I can see for keeping Koeman on.

I think one thing that both pro and anti Ronald posters agree on is he has no intention, and never had any intention, of staying beyond the three years of his contract.

And he is already going on halfway through that three years.

Now, although I wouldn’t put it past this board, it would be madness to let a manager whom has not fulfilled expectations in the first two years of his tenure and whom you don’t even want to offer a new extended deal to, run loose with a transfer budget the summer before he is leaving.

In fact, it would be daft letting him spend big in January for pretty much the same reason.

There is a growing body of opinion round these parts, one ol’ Khal subscribes to, that Koeman will be off at the end of this season anyway, striking a “mutual consent” deal with Moshiri.

(unless the wheels really come off over the next two months of course and he is fired quicker)

This is strange territory for us.....we are struggling and don’t have a manager whom is desperately trying to save his job.

Sad days indeed.

RK has two weeks to think about the team but he faces the same, old problems. Too many slow no.10's and too many players out of form.

From the first game against Stoke till today, a lot of us saw that playing 3 or 4 no.10's was not going to work. He persisted despite the evidence. He admittedly tried to change things by playing two up front against Burnley but only took half the medicine by not playing a winger and continuing to play with two out-of- form defensive midfielders who can only pass backwards.

Now against Brighton away he has to come away with at least a point. What does he do? He has no idea..But here's what he knows.: the team is short on confidence, has no pattern of play, has defensive lapses, midfield is not working, attack does not score goals, new stars are not delivering, no wingers, no leaders..Solution: Pack midfield, deep-lying defense, Dominic on his todd, and hope for a dodgy penalty.
