Agree with this to an extent.

Schneiderlin wasn't great, no, but Gana and Klaassen in front of him were simply too deep. Gana didn't have a bad game - Klaassen is really been hindered by this system atm and Koeman needs to give him time to settle rather than throwing him in constantly in formations that don't let any of our players flourish.

Morgan's plainly short on confidence, but you're spot on about the formation. Part of the problem is that Morgan doesn't have much of an option in playing a forward ball because it's so congested in the middle. If we're going to play Rooney, Klaassen and Siggy in the same side then they need to start interchanging positions and give the likes of Morgan and Gana options in wider positions to vary things a bit.

In some instances you're right with this synopsis.
In others though, he picks the ball up from Williams and, with 10 yards of space in front of him, elects a pass to Holgate or the full back. Safe.
He needs to stride into the edge of that congestion which will mean that one of those opposing midfielders will have to come and shut him down. When they approach he can fizz in a little pass to one of those you mention who showed at times that they can play one or two touch.
Everything Schneiderlin does is safe. And it renders him redundant against any solid opposition.

All this is current form btw. He was very good last year so hoping he can get back to that.

Yea, that's the other side of it. His lack of confidence means him playing a safe ball to someone whose generally less able on the ball than he is, which puts us under pressure. If he had an easier ball to play out going forwards then his confidence would likely improve, but he's stuck in a bit of a rut at the moment.

He has the talent, just needs a bit of self-belief instilling in him.

Fully agree with all this, our midfield is too congested, reduces space and options to pass to.
At one point today I counted 5 of our players in the centre circle, no outlet except an isolated full back.
I'm slowly coming to the conclusion, Snides and Gueye cannot play in the same team with 2 out and out wingers also.

I agree that if it is a call of one out of Gana and Morgan then Gana should be the one picked, but this idea that you can't play two defensive players in the middle of the park is a load of bollocks.

Chelsea are playing Kante and Bakayoko, Spurs sometimes play Wanyama and Dier, United are currently playing Matic and Fellaini.

The issues are that Everton are not currently creating enough threat out wide due to the central compression of the "wide" players, and also that when choosing who plays DM and who plays B2B between Morgan and Gana, for whatever reason Koeman is asking Gana to play B2B. At Southampton it was Morgan who pushed forward and Wanyama who sat back, so I'm unsure as to why Koeman has decided to swap the roles here.

The way koeman chooses to entirely rely on wing backs for width means we must play 2 defensive midfield. No other way to balance the team unless we play with 2 wingers and wingback drop to a supporting role.

With our wingback so high up the pitch, we're highly vulnerable to counter attack. One defensive midfield will be suicidal.

That's the point though isn't it, you'd assume only playing one anchor would free up some space to play wider.

However, 99% sure Koeman would just play another #10 and have about 7 of them in the one position instead of 6.
