Over the years there have been strikers who in the true sense of the word have not been great footballers but effective at what they do.Pace over 5 yards,the ability to find space and to put the ball in the back of the net whether it be with a knee,backside or hip.

It's the one remaining position left on the field where you can get away with not being particularly well rounded as a player. So long as you can get it in the net, you can be a successful striker. You can go missing for 89 minutes, score one goal to make it 1-0, and it's job done

Even in the modern game, where Goalkeepers are better with the ball at their feet than some outfield players, you can still get by as a striker with a comparatively limited skill set to everyone else

No Cruyff turns needed, just get it in the onion bag!

Different season under a different manager. So can hardly relate this as a valid point or koeman ignoring something a whole season earlier.

Not sure I fully get what you're saying, but it was our current manager, RK who binned Niasse after 1 half of a pre season friendly.

still don't think he's very good and shouldn't be in over the other strikers, but was a cracking finish and his attitude is spot on to be fair, he'll still be sold when a decent offer comes in
