2017/18 Morgan Schneiderlin

Rewatching the extended highlights, the amount of times players run past/in behind him is shocking for a defensive midfielder, he doesn't even look to see where they are. Has to improve massively this season for me.

For a team that plays two defensive mids, attacking midfielders seem to find it terribly easy to pick the ball up in the space between our defence and midfield.

I just don't notice him on the pitch most of the time. When we played City was when the warning signs were there for me. Against ten men away from home, it was the perfect time for him to dictate the play and keep us ticking us over and he offered us absolutely nothing.

This.

Sitting there on the GS, I couldn't understand how many times Kane and Alli were receiving the ball so centrally. So I just watched this lad for 10 mins or so.
He hardly ever looks to see what's going on behind him. He just ball watches. Doesn't slide left or right to warn off passes into the forwards.

Last season he was fantastic at times, so there's obviously quality there. But if we are ever going to be a really decent time, when we play the big boys our CMs have to impose themselves.

Yesterday Gueye did his best but constantly was harried. Schneiderlin was just woeful.

Purely imo, this is a post just trying to divert any criticism from a Gwladys Street darling.

Martina.
Williams.
Baines.
Kev.
Jags.
DCL.

The list of those who can be criticised when they are tosh is endless. Schneiderlin isn't allowed to be, I imagine because of his boss wife.

He isn't fulfilling any of his duties at the moment. The huge volume of midfielders ahead of him has nothing to do with him not taking the ball off Williams and dictating play, which he is currently refusing to do.

Stop defending him mate, his current form and demeanour doesn't deserve it.
Agree that his current form is not good, and I'm certainly not defending that. However, I believe that he is still a good player and worth persevering with.
If you're looking for players who can't be criticised, then you surely mean Besic and Sandro. I think this is tattoo-based.
And by the way, I don't sit in the Gwladys Street and I have never seen or met Morgan's wife

I know I'm in the minority but I don't even think he played that well when he arrived last year. He seemed to be injured for most of it and when he did play I don't think he gave us much that someone like McCarthy wouldn't.

Actually frightening if you watch the extended highlights on the OS mate, it's like a condensed package of Schneiderlin not having a clue what was going on around him. As you say, the amount of times Alli/Kane just ghost in behind him, and it's not even as if he's onto them but he's a yard or two behind the play, he hasn't even seen them most of the time. This is coming from a guy that thought he was superb last year.

Not sure what the solution to this is, other than Koeman hopefully pointing it out to him in the morning meeting tomorrow.

Moyes would have had him at centre back by now but could work in a 3 imo.
Our centre back options are shocking when not defending deep. We need a ball playing centre back and he has the height and more pace than the over 30s club
Either drop him or move him to defence and put siggy in CM where we need a footy brain now barry gone.

Yeah apologies mate I know you didn't say those, think i was just venting based on yday everyone but him getting hecklers. It's like he can do no wrong.
Definitely agree on Besic. I quite like Sandro though simply because I think he deserves a grace period.
Paul PogBa didn't pull up any trees in his first year so think we can't expect too much.

Or maybe I'm buying into the tattoos lol

Has looked like he's still on his honeymoon from before pre season. The amount of times he ball watches and lets his man run off him is unreal. Can't explain why he has became a massive crab either, everything backwards and sideways.

Frustrating because you know how good he can be. He was woeful yesterday. Allowed Ali and Eriksen to control the ball and play in the box multiple times. Didn't track any runners and can't really remember him doing anything of note at all.

Don't rate him at all , totally anonymous yesterday as usual , never goes past half way . My lad who has been at uni and hasn't kept up with the changes hadn't got a clue who I was talking about at half time  , he watched him in the S/H and was not impressed at all .

He was very good when he joined last season IMO, he controlled the home games. But that was usually when Gueye wasn't playing, just don't think the two play well together.
