Thought he showed a few glimpses of that last night. Maybe I was mistaken.
We can each only say what we saw, I suppose.

As said at the outset: I thought he had an ok game. I'm not writing him off, not by a long chalk. However, the game last night sort of underlined the view I'd built up of him when he played in the EL last season that he was a bit lacking in pace and not that adept at breaking a defence down.

I'll just leave this here so others might be guided:

"Speed" = how fast something moves

"Pace" = speed at which something happens or changes

I think the above might clarify the point I've been trying to make.

To be honest, I don't think the system we started with got the best out of any Everton player in that first half, klassen included.

Well if this is your definition of pace in a team, then I would say Klassen has plenty. For me he was extremely quick in thought and execution, didn't dwell on the ball once and kept everything ticking over, lots of lovely 1 touch football.

So while he might not have pace in the traditional sense, Ie, "sprinting speed" , he has plenty of pace in your sense, Ie, "something speed" .

So he'll be fine.

You wouldn't class it as creativity ?
I said it was an example of him needing to be up alongside defenders to find a way through. It's what happens only when a team is rank and are camping out deep in their own half so he has no defensive responsibilities whatsoever. That wont happen that often in the PL. Usually he'll be facing them and looking to pick a pass - and avoid challenges whilst doing so.

I'm not saying he cant be a success. He might be. But I dont think it'll come easy to him in this league.

Immediately last night you saw Sandro come on and you just know he's going to breakthrough in this league. I didn't feel that way about Klaassens.
