I keep saying this but People need to start realising that just because they as fans are surprised by something, it doesn't mean the coaches who work with the players every day are.I feel while sometimes a loan can be good for certain players, i also think back to a year or so ago when tom davies made his everton debut as we were injury ravaged at the time.
Liam walsh and ryan ledson were both out on loan at the time and probably would of been selected ahead of davies if they were still at the club.
Davies got his chance and never looked back, ledson didnt see a path to the first team and walsh looks unlikely to be here in a year or so i reckon.
Its an out of sight out of mind sort of thing
A lot of fans thought ledson was the next big thing because his name had been bandied about a bit, but he was allowed to leave because the coaches thought he was a fair way away from a breakthrough not because they'd forgotten he existed.
Davies didn't get picked because we had an injury crisis, that's seemingly one of those weird mass misrememberings. When he made his debut we had cleverley, osman and Barkley on the bench - he was picked on merit.
I like dowell but i think some people hugely overrate his level of ability. Others have seen more of him than me so I bow to their knowledge but from what I've seen he's more bilyaletdinov than le tissier.
