This situation is an absolute mess now with the injury. We have an injured player, who doesn't want to be here. Who is happy to run his contract down to get out on the cheap. Who we now have no prospect of getting even a half decent fee for. Because we cant even sell him. Complete mess.

Calm down Tim, he can still leave before the end of the window after he's recovered, and failing that we can ship him out in January, albeit for a lot less. And if he runs his contract down, so what? We can just keep him on the sidelines and let him waste a season of his career. We can't really come out of this on the losing side tbh, we're already way down the line of preparing for life without him.

(All of the above is subject to someone wanting to buy him)

Depends on the extent of surgery Tim.

If it's only something minor like a hernia op, it won't make the slightest bit of difference to his saleability.

He'll be light training in two weeks.

This might explain the lack of a decision re the contract offer. Waiting to see how bad the injury really was and what remedy would be needed.

It is quite clear now that Barkley will leave on a free next season...has no intention of either leaving nor signing the contract. He is contempt waiting on the huge pay day next year...it is a clear gamble from him...could suffer a massive injury at any time...and will definitely missing on the World Cup as Koeman will not play him. Not very clever from him...but then again who knows how much influence had lukaku on barkley not signing. The only thing I am sure is that both of them will regret their decision in a couple of years.
