Lack of pace in the squad

People keep on beginning Bolasie but there's almost no certainty he'll be the same player when he comes back. Sure, maybe in a straight line but cut backs and that like are hugely dependent on where he got injured..

I dont see how any of this fits together.

I've said before Koeman is clueless at putting an attack together. There's just no coherence in these purchases. Not yet anyway.

If we do sign Demarai Gray we will get some pace there. Bolasie, Mirallas, Coleman, Barkley (if we now keep him), Lookman, Sandro and our centremidfield are no slouches.

I theorise he's trying to create a highly fluid attacking unit with no-one really assigned to a particular position - bit like total football. Players constantly interchanging positions in the final third, popping up everywhere, opposition defenders wouldn't have a clue who to mark. Or as you suggested yourself, kind of a "pop gun" attack.

lol lol lol kone says hi
If there's one thing we did well under the last management it;s put a breathtaking counter attacking unit together. The Wolfsburg and Lille games away were testament to that. Pace and power.

I didnt see that last season and I dont see how it shapes up for next season given, as the OP rightly says, we have a slow coach attack...at the moment at least.

Total mess it looks like atm.

I expect a big lad of some description in...a Bas Dost decent in the air and sort of mobile to make any sort of sense of the attack as it's now constituted.

Good things come to those that wait. I'm intrigued how we are going to shape up as well, we just need to wait and see.

Pace is a useful attribute to have, but it is no replacement for outright quality on the ball. TBH I think that if you ask any PL fan they will tell you that their squad lacks pace.. whether it is true or not! People use it as a easy get-out when what is really required is better quality.

They had plenty of pace though.

Perhaps Gana won't be a regular starter so we will line up something like below:

Pickford

Kenny Keane Williams Baines
Klassen Morgs Siggurdson
Sandro Giroud Kev

Don't see Kev being a regular starter, personally. He's never been able to produce quality consistently. The sort of player who drives their manager mad.

Lookman is very pacey
I'm sure it's lazy journalism because Walsh came from Leicester who signed gray, but I'd much rather lookman was given a chance over gray. Forget about solande, lookman was our star player at the World Cup. Expecting him to kick on this season if given a chance.
