The Emergence of Steve Walsh

Had Spurs not played their European games at Wembley they may well have won the Europa themselves.

In fact I think they are very vulnerable in that top group this season due to stadium upheaval. They are imperious at WHL and will lose that advantage.
City and united will be the biggest benefactors this season, due to their sheer squad sizes. Spurs (Wembley) Chelsea and RS (Europe to contend with like us) won't get the same points haul as last season.

Well posted @catcherintherye .
Definate plan being executed , as you stated there wasnt much he could do in the summer window in that short space of time.
But he has diligently gone about his business and we are now seeing it bare fruit. Over to Koeman now to transfer it all onto the pitch.Still pieces of the jigsaw to be put in place none moreso than a centre forward if Rom has gone.
Plus another front man is needed even if Sandro is sorted.

Cant wait to see the "outcome" of his shopping trip to Italy , he obviously didnt pop over for a pizza & Peroni lunch.
He will have been working on it for months....Berardi ? Yes please.

Prefer Benardeschi personally.

Ain't kicked a ball yet. Spending a lot of cash.

At this rate, whatever Walsh is doing, it needs to deliver trophies in 2 years or we'll be one of them sides that spend loads and does nothing. You know who those types of clubs are.

Indeed.

I am liking the new, speedier way we are doing business and so far the signings look good....on paper.

But I won't be branding Mr. Walsh's transfer policy a "success" until actual, tangible success is achieved on the pitch.

Though right now I have every confidence it will be ;)

I enjoyed the spirit of the peice, pragmatically though it's prudent not to swept away in a wave of euphoria before a ball is kicked, while there is a massive Lukaku shaped gapping hole in the team.

On Walsh he's done tremendously well, I was very impressed with the outs in January and deals have been done far more efficently now his feet are under the table.

A cloud still hangs over the spending power at the club, if the rumoured Lukaku fee is true.

His biggest dilemma right now is the goals department.
When Lukaku leaves probably next week, we are left with the worst striking options in the top divisions in England.

Let's hope his fee goes towards this crisis.

Well not quite, Sandro and DCL are better than ALL the striking options in all the teams in the bottom half of the league.

But we need attacking players, thats not really in any doubt.

Anyway, this is the team Walsh has built us so far, provided of course some of the names ACTUALLY sign :

Pickford
Martina - Keane - Williams - Markelo
Morgan - Gana
Klaassen
Lookman - Sandro - Bolasie

Vs the team prior to him coming in, who would win! :

Howard
Coleman - Jags - Stones - Baines
Barry - McCarthy
Mirallas - Barkley - Pienaar
Lukaku

Joel
Coleman - jags - stones - baines
Barry - mccarthy
Deloufeu - Barkley - miralles
Lukaku
Pienaar was gone way before surely....

And the second team would deffo win.... 4 years earlier though.... With a fit Stevie... Not a chance, first team wins comfortably.
