I read today that Sunderland will slap 30m on Pickford.. not sure how well that will go down considering he will be a Championship player..

Championship player or not, you would be buying a keeper for at least the next 10 years potentially, so worth every penny.

Oh I'm not bothered about forking over the 30m for him.. I agree we should fork out a pretty penny for a good GK.. I more meant that it might warn off potential buyers and I bet Pickford won't be too happy if that means he'd have to keep playing in the championship

Id pay 25/30 mill for Pickford easy. You cant mess about with the spine of your team. There are certain positions you need to invest in the core of your team and thats it. The keeper is such a position.

30 mill is eye watering but you have to look at it context. He is 23 if he stays here 10 years that is 3 mill a season. That is a good deal for a player of his potential with potential sell on value. Its not like he is 30.

I wouldn't pay that money for a rookie goalie, there's no telling how he will turn out. I was hoping the next guy would be proven, aged around 29 so we can get a good ten years from a solid stopper.

When Lukaku leaves and by the looks of it Barkley, added to the ageing centre backs in Jags and Williams, plus the massive need for a class keeper, you are talking a complete refurbishment of the whole spine of this side, apart from the central midfield area where we seem well covered with Schneids, Gana, Davies and possibly Besic if he returns well.

However, we also will need to be adding some flair and attacking players to, as I think most of us have realised now that Geri aint coming back and Mirallas is basically done for. Add that to the obviously departing Niasse, Kone and Valenica and we are basically left with no strikers!

I seriously believe we could be looking at around 7-8 incoming this summer, with most of them needing to be ready for the first team immediately.

Must have's are a new keeper, a centre back, at least 2 strikers, a couple of wide players and somebody creative in the middle depending on the formation RK will go with in big games.

Im not sure hes a rookie keeper mate hes played 150 senior games throughout the league in English football. Robles on the other hand has played less then 100. He also has been a stalwart in the English underage set ups right the way up from U16. So he has pedigree and experience. He has been one of the top goal keepers int he PL this season in terms of performance and i think is nailed on to be called up for senior recognition this summer.

We are at the point of the one that got away in my opinion, just as we were with Hart and Butland when we didnt follow up our interest in the past. Im tired of underwhelming keepers since Martin called it a day.

Drop 30 mill on it and forget about for 10 years.

if we get another keeper in, reckon we will keep stek and joel? i'd like to see joel go out on loan personally with a re-call option

Outfield players out this summer and off the wage bill by probability rate IMO (yes I am slacking and can't be arsed doing any work!)

100% - Kone, Niasse, McGeady, Cleverley, Garbutt
75% - Geri, Valencia, McCarthy, Lukaku, Barkley
50% - Mirallas, Jagielka

I may have missed a couple more, but that is a massive overhaul of the squad.

Players to step up from U23's such as Kenny and also the likes of Lookman but it is a massive rebuilding job this summer.

It's difficult though. We can't just go out and buy players that will get us top 4 and titles. They simply won't want to come here.

It has to be a gradual improvement over time. Which requires patience. Something most football fans, myself included sometimes, do not have.

Oh I have patience. But it wears thin when key players jump ship and a board doesn't grasp to opportunity.

Early days for Mosh like but his deal will be infrastructure than goblets at he moment
