We go straight to the group if ManU wins EL and RS drops out of top 4

But thats unlikely.

Lets just accept that we will play qualification games against some weird club in July
in that case, if man u win Europa and Arsenal need to win there last game to overtake Liverpool, Everton could benefit by losing?

Hopefully we don't draw a Milan, Sociedad etc. in the qualifying rounds but knowing Everton we most likely will.

These are going to be pretty hard games regardless of who it is anyway tbh.

Due to coefficients we'd be hugely unlikely to face anyone "big" until the group, where we're likely to be seeded 3rd. But could easily sneak into pot two.

A few teams from pot one last year varied from Schalke, Zenit, Inter Milan to Victoria Plzen. Pot two varied from AS Roma, Braga and APOEL Nicosia and Genk.

We are realistically going into the 3rd Qualifier, as one of the top 5 ranked teams, so it's hugely unlikely we'll face a "difficult" challenge providing we approach it correctly.

Predictions have us up in to pot 2 already after this weekends results.

Yeahh, I'm saying pot three based on the last time were in the draw, some things change through the course, but this season, we'd have actually qualified for Pot Two, so who really knows.

Should we progress we're definitely seeded for Rounds 3 and 4.

  • If Man Utd win the UEL their place in the UEL third qualifying round for winning the EFL Cup would go to the next-highest ranked team not qualified for UEFA competitions in the Premier League.
I dont think the premier league are right here as it implies two things

1. That 8 teams from england wold be in europe (5 CL & 3 EL)
2. That we would go striaght to the group stages as we would be taking the 5th place EL spot or the FA cup EL spot (depending on arsenal) which both go straight to the groups.

I agree, they are wrong (at least according to the regulations I've seen - 2015-16).

Strangely enough, the Echo wrote an article about it recently and appeared to end up quoting the Champions League regulations.

The UEFA Europa League qualification rules for 2015-16 say in Para 03.06:

"The UEFA Europa League titleholder is admitted to the UEFA Champions League,at the entry stage determined by Article 3 of the Regulations of the UEFA Champions League. If the UEFA Europa League titleholder qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through one of its domestic competitions, the number of places to which its association is entitled in the UEFA Europa League is decreased by one. The created vacancy is rebalanced accordingly and priority for the UEFA Europa League is given to the domestic cup winners (in accordance with the entry stage as per the access list."

So the question for us is whether the place that is lost is the lowest place (i.e. our 'proper' place) or the place from the titleholders (i.e. United's place). I can see arguments for both solutions, but certainly if everyone is going to be 'shuffled up' then it would seem logical for the lowest place to be handed over...
