Everton Youth Teams Thread

Dortmund have a better side, you can also use some of their other young players to compare as well....not only to davies but how we as a team are bringing players through

Agreed, but I think the comparisons are problematic for multiple reasons. And some of those reasons I've listed above and been soundly refuted, so I'll recede and read again.

It was reported in April that the Premier League was examining three signings by Manchester City's academy, including an 11-year-old Everton midfielder and a 15-year-old from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In each case, the academy player was conditionally registered with City while the Premier League's investigation was ongoing.

As a result of the club's breaches, the players' registrations will be terminated, with no compensation rights retained by the club.

Regarding the Man City thing, does this mean we get our boss 11 year old midfielder back?

Well he can't stay at City so you'd like to hope so

City will not be permitted to retain either player. The statement added: “In each case, the Academy player was conditionally registered with Manchester City while the Premier League’s investigation was ongoing.

“As a result of the club’s breaches, the players’ registrations will be terminated on a specified date, with no compensation rights retained by the club, and the club will not be permitted to re-register them as Academy players.

“In addition, Manchester City has offered to pay compensation to each player’s previous club, and maintain educational provision for each player until the completion of his GCSEs.”

Been reading the Manchester City forum on their ban.

Found the post below a bit odd given that the only two young British players currently playing for City's first team come from the youth setups of QPR and Barnsley whilst Deli Alli (Milton Keynes Dons) has just won young player of the year.

Whilst I think Everton have a good academy and a history of producing players that get into our team, different setups will suit different kids and perhaps "roughing" it at one of the lower league clubs academies might teach kids a hunger that they just don't get at one of the premier league academies?

But it doesn't work like that... a smaller club does not improve your chance at making it, you'll get first team football sooner but a much poorer football education which will stand you in better stead in the long run? I know which I'd choose anyway. You've not really explained why Oldham would be better than Manchester City... it's really not you only think it is, you have to be careful equating first team football at a much lower level sooner with a poorer footballing education is better than the best education you can get with a team of professionals that will find you a club for first team football should you not make the first team.

At the end of the day the kid from Oldham would be much less likely to make it to the level required at City that's a fact and a major flaw in your reasoning, just because a lad from our academy doesn't make the first team doesn't mean he's failed completely he'll still be at a higher level than the Oldham kid.

A fella I knew in work before I retired had a lad at Everton about the age that's mentioned in the enquiry and he's moved him to City, he originally moved him before Christmas, I spoke to him about 2 weeks ago and he said the PL were holding up the move but he expected it to be given the OK soon, now I don't know if he is one of the boy's involved, but my question is if a parent wants to move his child for what ever reason who has the right to tell a parent what they can or can't do with their kids. How can they force a parent to put their child back to an academy they don't want to be at, and how can an academy take back a player they know doesn't want to be there.

That will be a strange one as he has left us but cant sign for them. Would he come back after what has happened and would we want to take him back. What if he decides he still wants to join City after the ban?

You give up the right to decide once you sign with a club and the parents are fully aware of that when they sign.

You don't have to sign if you don't want to, you can keep your options open, but most parents don't think about whether it's right, they just jump right in. Once they have your registration, you are there's as long as they fulfill there contractual commitments and there's nothing you can do about it without there agreement.
