Everton Youth Teams Thread

Anyone have a handle on some of the younger age groups like the U16s? Any standouts in the younger groups?

Can't remember the specifics, but seem to have read in here that there's a talent gap in the 16-18 range, and the kids (13s) are another talented group. I'm sure we'll bring in more players for competition in the 16-18 range, but not sure there are any (and at least not many) standouts in that group (yet).

I didn't mention Barcelona B, I used Dortmund and Monaco as examples.

Bundesliga and Ligue 1 aren't particularly taxing leagues to play in, and so the comparisons to PL squads don't float the same. Plus, Dortmund aren't doing particularly well in the league and even their best talent (like Pulisic) they're bringing along very slowly.

find the arrogance of some people regarding the premier league to be astounding.

The league can be more difficult for young players and not better at the top and both can be true at the same time. Maybe it's simply my arrogance or ignorance, but PL play causes more trouble for young players in making good decisions (primarily in not making bad decisions) under the constant pressure of the quick pace of the game.

thats your opinion but i doubt its based on any actually evidence.
plus you say dortmund are bringing pulisic along 'very slowly' when hes younger than davies and played more games in a far better team.

3 months difference in age, not sure I would count that as "younger"

Pulisic also certainly more technically skilled of the two, and generally considered "more talented," although that's generally meaningless for 18 year olds

But yes, my opinions aren't evidence based

*since January 1, more or less when Tom Davies broke into Everton's first team

17 fixtures for Everton
17 appearances for Davies
11 times 90'
4 times more than 30'
2 times 30' or less
0 times no appearance

Pulisic
26 fixtures for Dortmund
23 appearances for Pulisic
7 times 90'
6 times more than 30'
10 times 30' or less
3 fixtures no appearance

I guess you don't watch champions league...

Or Bundesliga it seems as Pulisic has 51 games for Dortmund (davies as a reference has 24)

Or ligue 1 apparently as Monaco are facing a PSG side built from immense wealth....and not doing too badly

What was your dislike for by the way lol

I know he's on loan, just wondering what Koeman thinks of him and his future with Everton

Everyone has biases, and I appreciate your constant bias towards men who can't grow beards, but sometimes it's too much.

Tarashaj has no chance now....cant get regular games over there after not being deemed good enough to make a difference in our squad.

Davies is 18 and has a 'pseudo' beard....also this is the youth teams thread :)

Updated my comments above; Dortmund have more games, but Davies has featured in more minutes in 2017

Dortmund have a better side, you can also use some of their other young players to compare as well....not only to davies but how we as a team are bringing players through

Dortmund are the model to follow imo. Buy young with high potential, promise them first team football and develop them as we cant compete for the top stars.
