Ronald Koeman discussion

Today it was the players. We had an injury crisis and we needed the established players to step up, or at least match their recent form and it was they who let the club down, but they have a great opportunity to bounce back on turfs now.

I like Koeman as much as you do mate, but playing Holgate and Pennington together was a disaster and worse was not to sub one at HT. Players were useless bottlers as always but I'm not going to slag off Martinez for months and then give Koeman a by ball when he goes to Anfield. He had a bad day, it happens, lessons to be learned for future.

Edit: had no idea that was a filtered word. How? lol

We'll be beaten by United but not agains after that, imo.

We have the pattern in place: by and large, poor and mediocre teams will be dispatched with efficiency; better teams we'll fear and struggle with. I can see us easily holding 7th on 65 points or so with the odd draw or two thrown in against a decent outfit.

I think we've beaten some of the better sides but I'll agree we've capitulated against a few too.

Shame the injuries came at this time. Can only wonder what might have been if we'd had Seamus and Schneids fit.

I guess 65 points and 7th isn't a bad first season for the manager though and I'm impressed that such a pessimistic (though I have to say likeable) poster such as yourself is predicting that

Nope. It was dreadful. The logic was we were fortunate to be still in it and we have the PL top scorer.
Who's never scored at OT, Anfield, Stamford Bridge or the emirates, yet he was going to bag two after being anonymous for the first half?

I'd suggest it was more than likely you were setting the team or more than likely Koeman up for a fall, much like when you commented prior to the match when you'd seen the line up and seemed happy enough with it to suggest you'd be disappointed if we didn't get some sort of result.

Of Course Koeman has to take some of the blame, but I was confident at 2-1 and he can't legislate for what Holgate and Robles did. That killed us and Holgate has not done anything like that this season, nor has Robles.

Yeah thats why we won at home against arsenal and city.........

Please be realistic, we don't have the quality to win these away games, certainly not with these players.

Some people here really overrating our

So we can
Yes arsenal and city at home fair enough, but what is it with the RS away, 3 managers later same old story

You are overthinking it. Any team is still in a game at 2-1 with Lukaku. 2 seasons of constant tit-for-that with @davek might be getting to you.

I think Koeman needs to take a sledge hammer to the Jagielka/Baines generation and appoint a new captain for next season. Both of those players are great Evertonians and great servants of our club but they for me represent and embody a certain meek nice guy mentality that we need to root out of the club.We have to get more cynical characters into the squad who will do anything to win.Oh and we need a proper goal keeper as well.We have made great progress this season under Koeman but there's still a lot of crap for him to straighten out.

can't play the injury card though. they were missing two "starters" as well. We just didn't show up and got pushed around, just like the Spurs game

Sorry Ian but we were poor after 5 minutes and the lad he put in defence had a shocker. That spreads right through the team most times as it did today

I'm certainly not gonna start digging a kid out. If Koeman selected him then I assume he's shown something somewhere to of been selected.

Tuesday will be very interesting.

Understand your viewpoint but actually thought Baines was reasonable today. Jags was gone 12 months ago and Williams is not the answer
