You make a valid point mate. I just think both O'Neill and Koeman should really have kept this out of the media instead of giving it legs. No doubt McCarthy has done himself no favours here either. Just needs to be sorted once and for all. It's like a broken record at this stage.I disagree mate. And it has nothing to do with Ireland. I would say the same if it was a player who was putting England or any other country first.
He is contracted to Everton FC and has a duty/responsibility to us as regards actions he takes regarding his fitness and well being. He went into the International break having missed the last 2 games with ourselves. Apparently, the medical staff at the club told him that his injury would not heal in time for the Wales game. There must have been some truth in this as he didn't train until the day before the game. Keane had said if he did not train that day he wouldn't be considered. He did train, declared himself fit and then broke down in the warm up. Obviously he wasn't fit.
I would be angry with any player acting this way. What makes it worse is that he's done it before and was fully aware of the tension between club/country concerning this specific matter. To still go ahead with what he did shows total lack of respect for the club and its fans, especially at such an important moment in the season with the games coming up and with Schneids already injured.
