I honestly don't have much time for that lot from the other side of the Blackwall tunnel, and I can't say I won't be pleased if they are relegated and not be honest with myself.

but, I do have a lot of time for Zola, he was a great player, superb talent, and their fans deserve better, it's been 30 years now since the last piece of silverware, they even beat us on route to do it, and that just sucked what happened to them in the 2006 FA cup final when rat face scored from long range to save red [Poor language removed] hides.

I honestly thought they would do it that day, it was so close.

so it now has 2 names? Like eastlands and the city of manchester stadium?

Kind of...Its real name is the Boleyn Ground, something to do with Anne Boleyn, having a house on Green Street many moons ago....

Nowadays it gets referred to as Upton Park, due to it being in Upton Park!

cheers la, can we start calling Goodison "Old Mere Green Field" again then?

Upson's performances have probably been the worst of them all. Word has it he asked for a transfer in January & was turned down. He has another season left on his contract & the club have tried since the start of the season to negiotate a new / extended contract but he says that he wants to concentrate on the world cup. The way he has been playing for the past few months he should not be in the squad.[

I have heard West Ham compared to a number of things over the years but a EU country is a new one. It amazes me how & on what basis people come to their conclusions about subject they know very little about. It must be based on the 'Sun' newspaper. Yes we are in a mess on & off the pitch due to a number of reasons & yes Sullivan & Gold may have brought into the club which helps us financially but they only brought 50 per cent of the club and the media circus they have started is an embarrasement.

Greece are SKINT / Yous are SKINT .
That's all he meant , lad .

( Don't get me started on the Schengen Agreement !!! ... )

When GP is rebuilt, to keep that old time atmosphere, we could revert to an old very dim distant name. Anyway, I digress.

West Ham, nice club, a club I wouldn't want to see go down, but the victim of those who wanted a previous chairman out quick time (any parralells folks?), he sold up to someone who easily passed the most stringent :P:P:P of "fit and proper person's" nonsense (F&PP only checks your criminal past, not your financial status), and for me it went downhill from there.

West Ham were lucky that the prem didnt do what they should have done which is dock you the three points during the Tevez affair which would have sent you down.

I don't wanna see you relegated, but in the wider context with Sheff Utd unlikely to go up this season, it would be some sort of rough justice of sorts if you did go down.

But there is a lot to play for and with your injured players coming back, there really are 3 teams worst than you (on and off the field)

To do with Anne Boleyn .
There was a designated parkland , a la Stanley . Ultimately West Ham moved in .
Hence , Boleyn ground .
I thought everyone knew that .

Why do people keep calling Upton Park "The Boleyn Ground?"

Hayee, Upton Park is a district of the London Borough of Newham, so is East Ham, West Ham, Plaistow & a couple of others. When you go to the Boleyn by tube Upton Park station is approx 300 meters away from the ground down Green Street. This is the street that the ridiclous football hooligan film is named after.
The Boleyn is the correct name of the ground and is named after a big house that stood on the site or next to the ground up to approx 100 years ago. Apparently Anne Boleyn resided in the house before her marriage to Henry VII. There is also a pub on the junction of Green Street opposite the World Cup statue that is called The Boleyn.

It does bug me a little when you hear the so called experts say Upton Park is the home of West Ham.

Hang on a second. With debts the size of yours? What did you expect?

Media circus - as opposed to what could be happening and WAS GOING TO HAPPEN if they hadn't have bought into the club? You'd be in administration like Portsmouth!

They're covering your debts.

I don't read the fcking Sun.

If you knew anything about Merseyside you'd probably know that. Its amazing people can base their conclusions on a subject they know nothing about.

With debts the size of West Ham. Everyone knows whats going on.

And you are like Greece. They spent spent spent. More money than they had even in the "boom years". The similarities are very appropriate.

? calm down matt.

I think whu will stay up becuase as pointed out there is three worse teams in the prem than you.

If you do stay them planks will need to back zola a little more than they did in january. Wouldnt mind taking upson off your hands i think moyes would do a good job with him.

sort of like the San Siro or the Meazza stadium, although it's dependant on whether Milan or Inter are playing at the time.

Celtic Park /Parkhead as another example.

it's a little known fact that Aberdeens ground, roughly translated into Gaelic means 'place of manure' but they didn't like that and everyone calls it Pittodrie.

I'm guessing Anfield has a similar story to tell.
