Ross Barkley

They wouldn't shackle them. Have you seen Alli's defensive record as opposed to what Pocettino looks for him to do in the opposition half regards atttacking?

As said, the lad has been largely neutered by Koeman, buy hey, a lot of people are pleased to see the lad running round and laying off and keeping down the adventurism. That's their prerogative I suppose.

They wouldn't shackle him, hmm depends mate, the player of last season they wouldn't need too as neither would have had any interest in him.

Neuteured, hmm, ok mate, laying it off, hmmm ok mate, neither true, but when's that stop you before.

Chances created - massively increased, assists notocably increased. Must be all that laying it off I suppose...

As for running a lot more mate, did you actually see the 80's team, they'd have won nowt without their commitment and hard working attitude.

What matters is he's full of confidence again. He's starting to regain that form we saw in his first year in an Everton shirt.
I don't care for davek's negative spin / attacks on Koeman.
He's getting back to his best & is an important player in our team. I don't care about what his stats may look like, because Everton are winning lots of games. That's all that matters.

No mate. You're merely trying to pump up the positive contribution of players by giving them credit for affecting NO positive change in a game.

That's why 'chances created' will remain a nerd category that explains nothing.

Of course. I'm sure the data analysts employed by all clubs and the vast amount of effort and resource they put into analysing opta stats agree with you.

It's been explained ad nauseam now, if you're not willing to accept what most already know, that's fine.

Anyone with eyes could see he would do 1 thing great and 5 awful things. Mess up basic passes, games passing him by etc but since December, its just clicked with him and Koeman. Absolutely everything good we have done in 3 months have come through him. Its beyond me why theres so many people just waiting for him to have a poor game so they can scream "TOLD YOU SO!!!"

I thought he needed to try and stop the fancy stuff and just get a load of solid 7/10 week in, week out and he has surpassed it. You could argue a case for him being man of the match there or thereabouts for most games since December.

And this whole fantasy of people saying he had a great season under Martinez from davek and that clown on talksport before!!!! He would do great things but lets be honest, he was average most games apart from little bursts. I dont think I can recall him ever having anything more than a good half at a time under Martinez. Even then he might do the odd few great turns, a great pass/assist etc but then spend the next 10 mins misplacing 5 yard passes and making basic errors.

Id love to know what goes through peoples heads when theyre watching the matches.

"Best football".

Lol.

Run...pass five yards...run...pass five yards...<repeat>.
Losing credibility with every post now Dave. If you can't see that he's improving then you may as well just stop watching football. Pretty clear now you are going against the grain on every topic and while it's good to spark conversation it's getting a but tiresome and downright silly to be honest. Definitely need on the wind up.

I have been a harsh critic of Barkley in the past, but one of his main failings ( his lack of stamina) has definitely been addressed. The other(lack of confidence) also seems to have been addressed. Is he playing with the swagger he was under Martinez, no he isnt. Is he a more rounded and consistent performer, undoubtedly. In my opinion, his increased stamina and confidence is whaynwill eventually bring back the swagger too!

He stopped playing expansive football because when it went wrong, the crowd got the hump and his confidence crashed. If it goes wrong now, he simply reverts back to being a tidy footballer and waits for a chance to come his way. This is the solid platform he can build on to be the player we all know he can be. I think Koeman has been good for him so far and i believe that next season, buoyed by achieving European football, a return to the England set up and by the knowledge that he is now the first name on the teamsheet we will see the real deal!

That's just gibberish. Can I have it English please?

"Chances created" with no goals. Cant wait for the next leap forward in context for players performances. Maybe "Creating chances that are created"?

That'll really beef up the players' importance. Maybe the ball boys will score a few % points with that.
