Ross Barkley

....feel free to vault me, I'm one of his critics even if I love watching him when he plays as he is at the moment. RK has clearly worked on making him a more complete midfielder and the lad has worked hard to improve his all around game. Well done with regards to that and he will surely get a recall to the England squad this week.

Saying that, there have been false dawns and it wasn't too long ago when he was truly dreadful against the Reds. Top players perform week in week out and make the difference in tight games when his team most need him. I've got my fingers crossed that what we're seeing now is what we can look forward to seeing on a consistent basis.

I think Tom Davies should take a fair bit of credit for the upturn in form. Ross has benefited from having finally another player in the team who moves off the ball and creates space, as well being on the same wavelength as him technically

i agree he has helped slightly i definitely say its more morgan to be honest. at the game saturday you could see how much they were one touch pass and move gets the ball a lot quicker. ive always loved ross never wanted him sold made up with how he is playing.

Here's a helpful guide.

I don't think I've ever wanted an Everton player to succeed more than I have for Ross

Totally agree.
We can see he has all the tools to be a monster of a player. Hopefully the recent upturn in form is the start of him becoming great.

Btw - and not to you directly - he is now playing better than he ever has, but I think he is capable of much much more.

What a player he is, but I totally agree. I believe there is more to come too.

I`ve said it before and I`ll say it again, Ross Barkley wasn`t a problem for Everton, but Everton was a problem for Ross Barkley. The team was not built for him to thrive and with Morgan and Tom in the team, he plays a lot more fluid and on instinct. I would cry if he couldn`t realize his potential at Everton, which is out of this world.

Expanded comments from RK in today's Times .......and so say all of us.

.....Barkley is in form to make the most of any opportunity coming his way after being liberated by Ronald Koeman, the Everton manager, and absolved of defensive duties.

“He is changing his style. I don’t need Ross on the halfway line having eight touches on the ball,” said Koeman.

“We have enough players behind the ball. We need good players like him in front of the ball, between the lines and close to the box. That is what we need.

“We need players like Ross to have shots, to have assists and that is one of his big qualities. The boy is so strong, so good on the ball. He is shooting left, he is shooting right, he is clever, he sees chances.

“Look to the third goal, he’s trying to dribble but he knew already to make the assist for Romelu. That is what we need in our offensive game.”

For anyone who is questioning why Ross might have got a lot of criticism earlier in the season it is worth watching a few of his earlier performances again. Rewatching the away game at Sunderland he had a torrid evening.

I do think the midfield balance has been found, in the same way that McCarthy and Barry complimented him in 2013. Only now with the extra maturity and guidance he now has, we are finally seeing the emergence of the player we all hoped he would be.

I think he can improve even more and become one of the best midfielders in the world.

Hope his contract is sorted asap.
