Joel Robles

Don't agree mate. I think he's been excellent last few games and that was a superb save today but I don't want a great keeper, I want a world class keeper

Problem is thete are several sides who want a world class keeper, Liverpool and City for a start, before you get to European sides who might need one.
World class keepers are collectors items, and likely to be out if our reach.

Or we see that at 26 he has the stuff to go on and be a top keeper

He just might.
He was God awful in his early games, cup defeat at Arsenal was like having a fan in nets. But he has improved year on year.
Of course there are better keepers, but he is only young and is continuing on an upward trajectory.

Will be interesting to see just what he can do till the end of the season.

I think that other than the out of reach handful of world class keepers (De Gea, Neuer etc), the difference between Robles and anyone else is minimal.

The key thing is that he makes the odd save that keeps us in the game like the one today and also last week when he closed down Silva (I think) to keep it 0-0.

He's proving himself to be more than good enough for us, with the defence looking very comfortable in front of him.

Another great performance.

his english has come on so much too. he used to be a bit nervous to shout, so had to rely on whistles and stuff which is confusing to defenders in the first place, but now he is very vocal, always talking to his defenders.

One of his best traits is how quick he is off his line though, he's absolutely boss at that.

yes, patrick lodewijks, Joel was saying in the everton magazine he loves working with him / best technical goalkeeping coach he's worked with.
Important relationship this ... I know I've said it on here before and I ain't name dropping but lad I know is the Swansea keeper coach... before that he was at Arsenal... Fabianski asked for him specifically when he moved to Swansea. Keepers are a weird breed.

yeah, he's the ugly looking fella 2 along from Koeman in the dugout...seems to be doing a good job up to now - both of them do tbh

He certainly seems to be earning his money. *Touch wood* Joel seems to have cut out those silly mistakes, however the rest of the season remains really before making this judgement

He's unfashionable on here but the lad is doing himself proud. He's improved his presence in the air especially from set plays and his shot stopping is really top draw.

Nothing better than seeing a player prove his doubters wrong.

A few more clean sheets from now until the end of the season on and Koeman will have some serious thinking to do.

If Joel becomes number one for the foreseeable future, perhaps Moshiri will dip into his pockets for a younger goalkeeper
i badly want joel to become our number one mate, been championing him for a few years. Think he's improved so so much from when he first signed and i fully believe if given the chance he'll improve even more. He needs long exposure to game time, that's such a vital thing for a goalkeeper at his age.

He is going in the right direction though
