Agree mate, as i just said whilst you where typing as well, he has a nasty habit of turning back into a player to beat him twice etc, if thats something he naturaly does will need it coaching away fromk, then again it could be as you said a lack of options in a poor team meanign he's got nothing else on - in which case it shows some brains rather than try force soemthign that ain't there - keeps possession etc waits to see if something opens up.

Beagrieitis.

Get's a shot off, which I think will win him a few friends whilst he irons out his game.

Hence your highly successful career in football?!

When you watch a player or team, do you think others can see their games better than you and that your views are wrong or inferior?

I dont. I dont think I have a better understanding than anyone else either. I just know my own mind and I wont accept it when some manager tells me a player is the cats whiskers when they've been pony.

Hi, I support Charlton unfortunately, only missed a handful of games in the last couple of years so I've seen most of Lookman's games. A lot of you seem to be talking about him with some authority despite the fact you've never seen him play.

I'm really pleased he went to Everton rather than a Chelsea/united etc as he stands a chance of playing with you. He is arguably the most naturally talented young player we've had since Scott Parker, he was picked up from park football aged 16 and was in our first team within a year. He is very fast, a good finisher and has a great first touch, but i'm not sure he's ready for the premier league yet. To be honest, getting £11mil for him is mad and i'd be happy to take it if we weren't owned by an insane [Poor language removed], his crossing and set pieces are poor and he's played badly ever since the Everton rumour appeared.

However, he has proven himself in one of the worst club situations imaginable. Last year we were booing our own players, throwing [Poor language removed] on the pitch and boycotting games, Lookman was thrown in at the deep end and was outstanding, he didn't give a [Poor language removed]. He would take on players, take ambitious shots and take risks, fair play to him to do that in such a toxic environment.

He can also ride tackles, he was getting kicked to [Poor language removed] in league one and would just get up and carry on with the game, I don't think many academy players could take that.

He has flaws and is nowhere near the finished article, but the fact that he has flourished under 4 managers and countless coaches in 18 months tells me that he is pretty special, I wish him well.

You seem to have a good football league scouting network in the last couple of years, (Stones/Barnsley, Galloway/MKunts etc) however I can't see Lookman being as good as Alli.

Cheers for the info lad, get the game against City on today then as reckon he will see at least some minutes and maybe even start.

BTW just a friendly bit of advice, the site has a no swearing policy - so if you plan to stick around, just watch the p's and q's mate :)

Thanks for taking the time to post. I appreciate the opinion of somebody who has seen him regularly. I admit that I had never heard of him.
I guess we'll all make our own minds up about him in the coming months/years.(although as ever, some will have already made their mind's up)

Thanks for that, I believe we bought him for 7.5 with adds on to 11 mil. Wonder if your club got a sell on fee like Barnsley did with Stones.

Just saying. I reject the belief those two know more than me. They lumped £27M on Bolasie, so that tells me they are far from being spot on in their judgement.

I know what I know. I get plenty wrong but I have faith in my own judgement on players.

I actually don't think Steve Walsh is the genius / scouting guru he's made out to be. What he is, is a very well liked guy with unbelievable connections and the ability to delegate well to his scouring network.

That said, to say you know more about football (are you actually saying this?!) or spotting a players ability or potential is madness. It's like me watching you cause havoc in this place at a professional level and then saying I know more about it than you. They're professionals near the pinnacle of one of the most competive trades out there, they've lived and breathed the game for well over a century.

I don't don't your incredible appetite for the game or the phenomenal knowhow you bring to the table, but this can't even be that good footballing arrogance, you can't believe this?
