Its pretty usual all over Europe.. Also disagreements wouldn't happen as often as you think as its the manager who tells Walsh what type of player he wants,. Walsh will find a list of players and they talk about which ones would be best.

RK. 'I want a midfielder who has been consistently poor in the Prem for at least 4 years. Goes missing when the chips are down, doesn't get many goals or assists, and doesn't really know what his best position is.'

SW. 'Sissoko'?

RK. 'Nailed it'.

"I know what is needed to change. If everybody opened his eyes maybe we will get further in our improvement - because that is what this team needs. I have that in mind and the board knows because we speak together about what we and the team needs and that is the job of Steve Walsh."

...thanks, Davek. Not sure what to make of that to be honest, particularly your view of it being a swipe at Walsh. It might actually be a swipe at somebody who isn't Steve Walsh.

...it's probably wrong to highlight the summer window. Walsh (and to a lesser degree Koeman) came in without detailed knowledge of the squad or priority requirements. Neither had been able to line up new players. On Sissoko, Koeman said at the time he really wanted a box to box midfielder. I think Sissoko was touted by his agent as the window closed and we made a plunge.

To be fair, I think we need to give them a couple of windows to judge their worth.

Looks like he's saying both he and the board know what we want, now Steve Walsh has to get the players in.

He;s basically accusing the DoF of falling down on the job, imo.

Do you feel it's unfair to blame Walsh and that there's someone more deserving of the blame?

....I think it's unfair to blame Walsh if deals don't get over the line. I don't think the acquisition process at the club is well defined and I don't think it's working smoothly at this moment. Ultimately I think you can blame him and Koeman if players come in who don't improve to the team.

..possibly. I read that as confirming it's Walsh's job to identify who the team needs. I suspect he might be having a swipe at somebody else.

i know we live in a win now world and are all impatient for a winner, but RK/Walsh in effect have had zero real windows to work with. The first one is this one in January. In the summer, as others have mentioned, RK had general notions of what we needed, but now after seeing us perform for 5 months he knows exactly what we need.

Look, it's been a while since we've been relevant in the grand scheme of things. What's another window or two? I'd rather have a more measured approach to who we blow money on than to have blown big money in August. Losing out on Sissoko will prove to be a blessing.

I just can't see how we can judge these guys thus far. And if we want to judge, then what we did in getting Gana should at least give them the benefit of the doubt - you can have a few clunkers based off that coup alone.

correct me if I'm wrong....

but dose'nt he say that's down to Steve Walsh and myself??

The full quote does read as more a go a the board and not Walsh. I think he's saying hat him and Walsh idefntify the players and it's up to the board to get them in.
