Gareth Barry

It's often seen as a sign of his experience that he'll often break up attacks with a snide little trip - nothing that's going to get him in the book on it's own but enough to let us get back into shape and frustrate the opposition. More and more though I'm beginning to feel that a quicker defensive player would be breaking up and frustrating with actual tackles and not conceding free kicks all over the shop.

Only 4 days ago he layed on a stunning first time ball for Lukaku to score against Watford. A pass that McCarthy or Gueye would never have seen or made. I think binning him off like some are saying, is a tad over the top
To call it stunning is way over the top! We saw Gana's passing range quite well last night. We also saw what having two pairs of legs behind barkley can do. If McCarthy or Gana went forward, Barkley found space. We looked a lot better. Just wish Barry had legs still as he is class.

Let's be honest, Gomes should've been a bit braver and smothered it. It was a good spot but he got very very lucky.

Harsh, not on Gomes he's a clown. Barry put the ball where Rom could do the damage, if he meant it or not I'm not sure, but I still stand by he's the only one out the trio of midfielders who has the inclination to even try it

Yes he has the experience for the Derby - but legs will be the key... especially against a team of high tempo pressers...So, if his legs won't get him into position to use the experience, then it's not much use.

The Players Vs Arsenal showed enough to get another go - even in a Derby

There's no money to replace him

Same reason gibson was extended. Nothing ever changes and this is a clear sign we won't be going mad in the window. Joke of a club

Everton aren't stupid enough to realise his legs won't last they are simply too tight to spend!

So we win a game without him and he is rubbish now?

Is that the party line?

He has probably been our best player for two years (certainly in the conversation) and still has something to offer the club.

I dont want him playing 90 minutes of every game but I still want him around to offer his experience and ability.

Our midfield near enough disappears when he is included. It's been like that for years as well. The fact that he still might get a game indicates just how unbelievably poor we have been in central midfield in recent years.
