Ronald Koeman discussion

IMO only 4 senior pros shouldn't be binned off before next season.. Williams, Geuye, Bolasie and Lukaku, 3 of which Koeman brought in..

Coleman is poor defensively and unless he is on form going forward he offers nothing, I thought Cedric looked twice the RB, I don't understand why Coleman is rated so highly and suggestions he is captain material are ludicrous in my opinion. Baines offers little too and I think this has been the case with our full backs for the last few seasons. It's worrying that these two are considered two of our better players right highlighting how poor the squad Koeman inherited was.

Barkley's only hope for me is next to Gueye in CM, he is simply not a number 10, he is nowhere near intelligent enough and has poor awareness of where people are when receiving the ball with his back to goal. I can understand if Koeman does not trust him as a CM however. The lad has all the ability in world but doesn't know how to use it. I think there is still time for him to begin to fulfil his potential, but not much.

Dela and Mirallas are going nowhere. Both have shown they have a lot of class but rarely show it, I don't think the pair of them are Koemans cup of tea.

I have picked on these players rather than the rest of the utter garbage we have because these are the players I think Koeman expected to step up and deliver for him and I think they have massively let him down with individual performances. It's not Koemans fault Barkley is constantly giving the ball away, Coleman and Jags can't defend a cross or the first man gets hit on the majority of crosses.

It's scary to think where we would be now without the players Koeman brought in and he will have a much better idea of what action needs to be taken in the transfer window. I trust him to put the right squad together but with the amount of deadwood we have it's going to take at least 2/3 more windows. I don't think we will be a good side until the season after next.

3 of the 4 I agree with. Lukaku will be off so let's hope we get top dollar and replace him with players who might be better suited to how Koeman wants to play

yep,i thought considering how we have played lately, and koeman going back he would have them even more up for this than ever,or the players would show the fight for the fans etc

Either the players really are crap, or they're not playing for the manager, and considering how the players stabbed Martinez in the back it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't the latter.

G Barry comments around the start of this season about the lack of discipline in the squad were very telling.

I was shocked to read them at the time, he mentioned standards of timekeeping and even dress had slipped back amongst the players.

You can't fix problems like that overnight.

Goes back to the core of what many of us think now - we have a high number of lazy, disinterested prima-donnas stealing the clubs money.

Once discipline slips to that extent, the only solution is to get rid, one by one.

Neither carrot nor stick seems to work with this group.

Someone on high should have intervened with them last season, I'm beginning to think now that Moshiri should make an appearance on the training ground, as nothing seems to work with this lot.

Whilst I agree with what you're saying, isn't it professional suicide to underperform because you don't like your manager? All it will lead to is:

1) Poor league position
2) Poor reputation, both as a player, and perceived as a bad team player
3) Reduced value on the market, and limited transfer options due to #2
4) Personally feeling rubbish as you don't play your best game, don't get to experience the feeling of winning games, just get to read bad press about you and the team all the time.

Don't think our players have got a brain between them to realise this mate.

Biggest issue that he needs to address, for me at least, is that virtually every other team in the league looks more comfortable in possession than Everton do.

Recruitment policy needs a complete overhaul.

The most worrying aspect of yesterday's game for me was the utter lack of creativity.

We really don't have players who can thread a pass or cause mayhem for opposition defenders.

Koeman to be fair to him has inherited a very poor squad. He needs to be backed heavily in January. We need 4 players minimum.

I just can't see us getting the quality we need. Who's realistically available in January?

And that in a nutshell is the only criticism I can hit Koeman with.
Why on earth didn't he bring in someone creative?
Martinez was banging on about it for seasons and did nothing, Koeman comes in and does nothing.
Despite not being able to break down teams who sit behind the ball, like Soton yesterday for long spells, we still are yet to bring in someone who can play a subtle pass.

and there's 60-70-80K+ reasons per week they don't care.

play bad - bank weekly cheque
manager kicks tea cups at you and throws hair dryer - bank weekly cheque
get dropped to bench - bank weekly cheque
doesn't even make the bench - bank weekly cheque
made to train with U23's - bank weekly cheque
told you're not wanted, don't even get a locker - bank weekly cheque

sit with your head in your hands at Southampton - bank weekly cheque

This is absolutely correct. Walked past the players car park and seeing some of the motors the Southampton players were driving was a sobering experience. When you see the performances we put in for the funds they get paid it's very easy to see why people become disillusioned and disconnected.

If we finish any higher than last year it's an improvement. I think some of us got carried away in the summer with talk of titles and big spending. A higher finish, positive stadium movement, a full season to assess the squad. Let's all take a deep breath.

What are you talking about Gerry, you're second in the league
