Ronald Koeman discussion

That's about it alright - though I would certainly think that Koeman has not held back in training.

It's not like 30 years ago, players have all the aces these days, you wonder what exactly can be done. Discipline in training was lost under Martinez and we have a group of players used to being praised and cosseted.

The days of a player being intimidated by Ronald Koeman walking in are long gone.

As well as Koeman, it's time now for the senior pros to step up - we have two international captains in the back four, and the squad if anything, is weighted with aged players - it's their responsibility too.

After the derby defeat last year, I recall someone on here suggesting that Bill or one of the other directors should step in and speak to the players, it really was that bad. It should never come to that but the main issue is that we don't have a lot of vocal, mouthy players, older, or younger, in this group. There is not a great deal of leadership.

All I can think of currently is to get Duncan involved more - a bit more British grit would make a good counterbalance to RK and EK, but perhaps this is there already.

All the players are behind RK - I have no doubt about that.

Williams and Baines both did interviews after the game. Both of them looked distraught.

They care. They'll have had a hammering - I've no doubt - considering how angry Koeman was at the end.

He got things wrong, even though I can see the logic in his decisions - like starting McCarthy - and he'll have to learn from that.

But 12 games in and he's still getting used to this team, and I think quickly realising part of it just isn't cut out or able to adapt.

We've been awful for the past 6 games (bar West Ham) - not arguing with that.

The fact that we're still in 7th backs up my point though...

No it doesn't.

It actually drives a coach and horses through your point, Toff.

Because when this slump started we were sitting in second place and unbeaten.

How anyone can say they are happy.....or even content.....with sitting in seventh place from such a strong position and with games against Bournemouth, Burnley, Palace and blooming Swansea on the horizon is totally beyond me :drunk:

Seriously, I bet very few of our friends on here would have envisaged us being outside the top four at this stage, let alone the top six, the night we beat Boro.

This past two months has been a major disappointment and it is better we call it so.

Harrumph......

We played well against West Ham, Palace was a bit meh, but far from a horror show, Burnley mugged us right off.

Chelsea was abysmal but for me Saturday was arguably worse. It was a shocking half arsed showing in that first half, against a piss poor Swansea side.

That said, we still should have been 2 up before Jags gifted them the lead from the spot.

He was fuming after the game and rightly so, I hope he's running them ragged today.

Pre-Season training and friendly's.....forgot about those.
Look from my perspective it,s way to early to judge the manager but what does worry me is the clubs ability to support the manager.
Anyway, personally I think the manager will be off anyway before his contract is done for a professional club with more money to spend.

you mean 2 of the 3 you mentioned :p

8th was still nowhere mate, so not really here nor there, the reality was we should have finished the season 2 points off 4th, probably have us settled 6th with us catching 4th rather than losing pace on it, but results wise we could and should have been 6th or 7th.

The fact it was one of those seasons makes it look less harsh on us that it actually was.

Wages would have had us 9th...i think this season 7th but may be wrong.

How do you know Niasse was injured? He wasn't according to the injury record here http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/clubs/8/everton_injuries.html

Coleman has scored 2 goals since he's got back which have both won us points.

Davies is still very young to play as a DM, him being ripped apart by Chelsea wouldn't have been a good experience for him. Him coming on with 20 minutes left for experience when the game is already lost and getting praised is a much better scenario.

Ive never heard of a manager thinking that its a good idea to blood young players when suffering a heavy morale sapping defeat.

No idea what that site says...he was injured for the u23s.

haha

Saying we should have finished 6th if we got the results we should have got. Would have put us 2 points off 4th if we had done it all

BUT

The season would have seen us climbing to there, so no chance of getting 4th, but after the final game we would have settled in 6th or 7th.

'Plugs in enigma code machine'.

Where did you find the interviews?
