Have you ever sung "that song" ?

I hate it, makes me sick but when I was 9 years old and on holiday it was my karoke song. I remember singing it and the whole pub in Benidorm were waving their hands. I didn't know any better then but I don't know why my Dad even allowed it.

You say the hatred wasn't there back in them days. But it was after Heysel and the European ban, which is the major reason that the hatred exists today. When/why do you reckon the Derby started turning to the full on hatred we have today?

Mainly during the fat Spanish waiters time is when it really took a turn for the worse mate actually

Under what circumstances would it be acceptable for that song to be played at Goodison.

Our team comes out to the theme from a 1960s cop show that we share with Watford (?). Grand old team gets an airing quite a few times and not just on the terraces, on the tannoy, quite a few other clubs use that too. Playing devils advocate like.
To be fair the tune Johnny Todd is strongly associated with Liverpool. Which is why the T.v. Series used it as it was meant to be based in Kirby. I haven't got a clue why Watford use it, horrible southern divvies.

No, and I never will.

I don't say that because I'm a "bitter bloo" like they'd love to make out, but rather I won't ever feel pressured into singing a song that I associate with a group people I seriously dislike. I despise how it gets associated with the entire city, as if it's our national anthem that brings everyone together regardless of football allegiance. No, it's a Liverpool FC song, not a city of Liverpool song.

Shankly started it with his inane comments about our club - you should know that - friendly Derby? never happened dont hate you lot BTW NEA

The Everton version is better than Liverpool's as we played around with the words and done the staccato rhythm and has a good play on words on the verse. The sign on versions are better than Liverpool's as they show more adventure lyrically.

I don't get the hype around the song myself its just a straight rendition of the original, which is fine to do but not something I'd give much credit for.

It was just another song when it first came out, that is until it was tarnished by association with that lot. No, I did NOT sing it. I just stood there in respectful silence with my dad (God bless him), and painfully waited for the damned thing to be done.

Remember going out with a girl new years eve. Some idiot played it at midnight. I was out the door before she could kiss me. Remember Nuremberg away. The night before there were loads of us in a bar in a nearby city and done Germans did it as a karaoke song. They were warned it wouldn't be funny. Think about 3 notes were played before they were pulled off stage

I went to most of the Derbies in the 80s and 90s, must have been around early 2000s where I gave the Derby up as it was just getting too poisonous. To be honest, reading some of the posts on here, I'm not surprised the Derby has gone the way it has. It saddens me, it really does that some people on here can actually resort to physical violence upon hearing a song ffs. I never thought I'd say it, but reading this thread leaves me in doubt as to where some of the fault lies for the Derby being what it is today. Both sets of fans have their share of idiots,we know that, but if that's the way some of you act when you hear 'that' tune, I find it really sad.

I hate the fact it is used in the advert for cancer now. Can imagine it not just us who think that too.

I didn't sing it back in 89 but I accepted it given the circumstances more than I ever have since.
