Let's not kid ourselves

It's a lazy comment to make that any comment not made with the aid of rose-tinted spectacles is a negative comment. I thought this forum was here to provide a platform for discussion of all things Everton rather than a North Korean style orthodoxy.
How is this North Korean style orthodoxy?

That would be banning people for disagreeing which has never been the case.

You can be realistic/negative (whichever you wish to describe your outlook as), I am remaing positive. I hope it's ok for me to remain positive. Is that ok?

There's negative comments and then there's this nonsense

It's not nonsense tho... I don't go to the game anymore... so if I'm negative on here or positive ... what effect does that have in Everton? None! And there is plenty to to negative about if you view it that way... I think we are a bad side with lazy over rated players.. that's my view... but I don't think we should sack the manager or anything like that... he needs time... at least 4 windows before he can call the squad "his" but I can understand why people feel negative ... there is plenty to feel negative about ..

No.
Gotta be mad and sad because bad.

Any positivity will not be tolerated in the new GoT superstate of hate.

I do hope people can see the difference between having a different opinion (which is ok) and a dictatorship (not ok).

It's cool to agree to disagree folks. Just because one person is positive, doesn't mean we all have to share that opinion. You can be as negative or realistic or balanced as you like. I happen to be positive currently.

Excellent post. I agree about the RS, individually they don't have a lot that strikes fear into opponents, but collectively they become much more, their expectation levels actually help rather than hinder them.

That is almost impossible for us to replicate. Koeman will have to focus on each position and bring in individuals who can then hopefully mould into an effective unit. That work will take up most of the length of his contract.

The other thing is the narrative which runs through EFC which not only tolerates but almost embraces mediocrity. We are like a working class lad whose own family sniggers at the idea he might want to better himself, let alone be confident in projecting higher expectations externally. I see Kenwright and Elstone as standard bearers of that attitude and it remains in place under Moshiri. Now he can't be tasked alone with changing that but change is needed. Not superfluous, nonsensical soundbytes from Kenwright.

Ideally what I want to see happen is that we get to spend a decent amount of cash and that we overhaul the board to bring in people who have expectations to match ours, based on investment in the team. They have to do these things, and be seen to be doing them, to smash that culture of mediocrity bit by bit.

Absolutely spot on.....Kenwright and Elstone inspire and accept mediocrity imo, whilst people like them are still involved, improving things will be a very, very slow process

Mate you can go on and on about what we need but it's been getting said for too long which ever way you put it and it pains to say they have a better team, and recent results against them whether it was Moyes or Martinez we don't turn up against them we see a red shirt and go to pieces.

But that's them having a better team mentality - they don't have the better players; at least the majority of them aren't better than ours.

Take horrenderson & lallana for example. Both gash. Both overhyped by the media. Neither of them would improve us, but the media have a circlejerk about them (For reasons unbeknown to logic or reason) and that carries them half the time. The other half it's the other shower calling them 'The best midfield pairing in der werrrrld, lad.'

They're allowed to forget their gash/average performances if their side wins. And when they lose, too, the gabshoite pundits are still making excuses like 'Oh, they've had an off day' or whatnot. When they get to beat sides convincingly (When the other sides have an off day - take their game against arsenal, or us - when they finished 2nd under gnashers) they were 'sublime'...Weren't down to the other side not being at the races that particular day.

Our players get 'Came up short...again' (Which a fair few of them do). On the occasions when we've beaten the likes of untied, chelsea & arsenal, we haven't had the spunkfest off the media - they just weren't very good that day.

You don't need star players in every position (Like they believe they've had forever) you need to start dismissing the bollox that gets said/written and start disrespecting the reputations of other sides - not worrying that you'll come up short again, or getting the usual drivvel from the media.

Bollox to them. We're Everton, aren't we?
