Ross Barkley

I'll be very disappointed with Koeman if he plays Ross on Friday. I can understand giving Bolasie (the other standout horrific performer from the weekend) another chance to put things right as he's new, but Ross has been in this rut for 2 years now. Time to take him out of the team and get him in the reserves for a few weeks.

Ross is probably the thickest professional footballer I've seen. In interviews he comes across as gormless at best, and it wouldn't surprise me if he got fewer than 5 GCSEs at school. Surely got a F for English. The scouse Rodney Trotter, if you will. Even Rooney was giving interviews in English at 22, and he's, for me, one step up on the thick scale. I'd happily see Ross sold in the summer if his form doesn't drastically improve by then, and right now he's only showing signs of going backwards - no improvement whatsoever. If he can't turn it on for Everton at 23 then I'd say it's very unlikely he'll reach the level we thought he would at any club at all. Probably be playing for Rotherham with his mate Stubbs in three years.
You're so full of hate, aren't you?

What's wrong, mate? Is your life really that depressing?

I agree, as much as I want Ross to do well he's just not doing it.

After Saturday I'm beginning to wonder if we've been blinded and if he is as good as we think he can be. The arm round the shoulder hasn't worked, time for the Manager to get tough with him I think, but booing him will never help, him or any player.

He's in bad form - only he can play himself out of it. It's got nothing to do with tough love or an arm around the shoulder at this point.

His main issue at the moment is his insistence on always taking one more touch.

Can we stick to talking about his football ability, seeing that this here forum is a football forum and not a forum to discuss academic achievements?

Ok, friend.

Yeah... for most people you have to assume one approach would work, i.e. the Martinez you're-amazing-even-when-you-play-rubbish approach or the Koeman let's-get-real-it's-time-to-deliver-now one. But no, not for our Ross; nothing seems to work. Perhaps he needs some real tough loving now and get dropped out of the squad completely for a few weeks, show him he's not the superstar he thinks he is and he has a fight on his hands to win his place back. He won't be missed from the line-up, that's for sure, and we need to find a way to get that fire back in his belly somehow.

Unless he is in acres of space because then he will take a wild first time shot.

Yep, if he could just learn to let the ball go that little bit earlier he'd be 10 times the player.
It's so simple too, I genuinely do not understand why he continues to drag the ball back inside when a clear pass it on or a shot on goal can be had. It just boils down to simple intelligence, of which he has none. A shame, but you can't teach somebody who is unable to be taught.
