Ross Barkley

Look how far we are going back to see a good display though... He's got everything needed for an AM and canny do et

Personally I believe his footballing intelligence is not upto to standard, he has little anticipation of play in games, not sure it's something that is learnt or comes through match experience, either way it looks he is never going to be Xavi Scholes etc..
And those injuries few years back.

For me the problem with Barkley is the expectation heaped on him at the outset. We wanted him to be the creative midfielder to build the team around. He isn't that for all his abilities . Given time l feel he could develop into a solid , dependable CM. The problem is we need someone in his current position to make things happen up front.

This is exactly what it is, his best attributes are physical and he's weak mentally too, aside from the intelligence thing. I still think he can be a very good player for us, or elsewhere, but he's never going to be a real top player

. Maybe for the interim, still he will have to learn to retain the ball, maybe watch a video of Vinny Samaways technique of passing, that's if one exists!

Please stop making excuses for Barkley, he is just not good enough, there is no shame in that it is just the reality of the player.
He will never play for England again and I dought he will be in the premier league in three years.
Playing for your local team does not make you a good player.
Once again I found it painful to watch him yesterday, it would be best for him to be dropped out of the squad play for the under 23s it may help him it may not, but we cannot carry on with him as a passenger at best and a liability at worst.
Sorry but that's how it is.

Think there's some deep rooted issues with the way our fans treat this lad.

Yes he's not playing well at the moment but unfortunately we lack ACM options.... Wonder why that is?

This is rich from Koeman yesterday:

'Ronald Koeman responded angrily to questions about Ross Barkley's below-par display following Everton's first Premier League defeat of the season. Asked afterwards for his thoughts on the England international's contribution, Koeman said: "I don’t answer that question. Why? Because why do I need to explain or always talk about one or two players. You don’t ask me about Coleman… What I don’t like is that every game I need to explain the performance of Barkley. Every week I get that type of question."'

Erm, he put himself in that position by choosing to go into detail with a private conversation he had with the player after the Sunderland game. He cant start complaining when the hacks go after more info along those lines.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson now. This is a club with a lot more interest in it than the one he left and he'll be scrutinised more. Best policy in the future is to stfu and keep it all in-house.

Have to agree unfortunately, how many attacks break down because of him either over/under hitting simple passes or just plain giving it away, dithering or just running in to people. If he wasn't a local lad he'd be niassed by now. How much exposure amongst fans niasse pass out for a throw in got against Leicester last season when Barkley does it most games.

Ross is probably the thickest professional footballer I've seen. In interviews he comes across as gormless at best, and it wouldn't surprise me if he got fewer than 5 GCSEs at school. Surely got a F for English. The scouse Rodney Trotter, if you will. Even Rooney was giving interviews in English at 22, and he's, for me, one step up on the thick scale. I'd happily see Ross sold in the summer if his form doesn't drastically improve by then, and right now he's only showing signs of going backwards - no improvement whatsoever. If he can't turn it on for Everton at 23 then I'd say it's very unlikely he'll reach the level we thought he would at any club at all. Probably be playing for Rotherham with his mate Stubbs in three years.

Bringing academic achievement into it is a bit out of order.

Yeah he looks extremely awkward in interviews, but to be honest I'm only interested in his application on the field. Not his English GCSE. Sake.

He will play for England again... the media will see to that.. and they will destroy him when England lose. He will be a premiere league player he always will. Jack Rodwell, Wilshire both prem players. If he gave 100% every game then fans would not be on his back. He would get the benefit of the doubt from all of us, and this is because he is a blue. we want him to be great. But putting half arsed performances ? Fans will turn on him faster than any other ,this is because he should know what it means to play for us... and what is expected... and 100% is the minimum. Beckham wasn't world class, but every England game, win lose or draw , he worked hard and you could see he loved playing for England and he turned himself form the most hated man in the country to someone people ended up loving.

Is this the new Everton directive, now .

Wanted ...Good Footballers . Players with no A-Levels need not apply .

I've read some really stupid posts on here , but this reaches new bloody heights
