Ross Barkley

He won't ever succeed at Everton, 4th full season third manager and can't even boss a team like Bournemouth

He overthink and overplay too much. He is too slow to react and pass the ball. And he doesn't work hard enough while he is without the ball.

I really think we need to drop him back so he plays deeper.

The amount of time he wants on the ball in the final third is killing our attacks. He's got plenty of talent and ability, I think right now he'd be far more suited to the number 8 role.

I love Ross and think he's got a decent amount of talent, but he's doing a sterling job of appearing average. It smells like personal life problems at the moment.

I think we (me included)are forgetting his mentor Sid Benson has only recently passed away and maybe having a significant affect on his form.

I used to think this but he's so utterly pathetic and cowardly without the ball, I don't see how it would work.

He needs a spell out of the game where he sorts his head and decides whether he has the stomach for playing at Everton. Personally his lack of desire is poor in the extreme. It's a real British sporting problem. Young sportsmen just don't want it anywhere near enough.

Some of us...quite a few of us really, were pointing out the negatives in Barkleys game a couple of seasons ago and we were told that we 'had it in for him' or had an agenda against him, when in fact we were just being brutally honest....and that isn't easy when you're a massive Evertonian who wants us, always, to produce a world beater. The facts from a couple of seasons ago remain the same. Barkley refuses to tackle, he loses the ball more than anyone I've ever seen in nearly 70 years watching Everton, his decision making is poor, his passing has gone downhill. He has a few good qualities...he hits the ball hard when shooting and he is adept at the old one two(unfortunately, he overdoes the passing back to were he's got the ball from, probably because he's trying to work out if theres anything different to do.)
I wish it were different, or that there was a fathomable reason for him getting worse instead of better, but I think he is in the last chance saloon, and Koeman will be making noises in Moshi's direction about replacing Barkley...even as early as January, given the opportunity.
Sorry, but I think that's the case. Unpalatable for many, but how I see it.

Just occurred to me that maybe Ross is happier playing with his mates in the park, than in the pressure atmosphere of top class football?

Still leading the Barkley haters after all these years Steve.

Going to start struggling to defend Ross soon.

The overwhelming evidence is that he's very good when he plays on instinct, but the more you encourage him to think about the game the worse he plays. I'm afraid he doesn't have a footballing brain, which has been many people's thoughts on him for a while now.

It'll be very sad if he doesn't make it here, but unfortunately, that's increasingly looking like the case.

I think the saddest thing of all is the fact we haven't brought any sort of playmaker in when we have been crying out for one for years, it's solely been put on his young shoulders, if we didn't have the most tight fisted of boards we could of got another no 10 in so they could learn each other things and share the load

It's absolute utter rot isn't it?

A load of cowardly back sliders who, rather than supporting a local lad who carries the supporters hopes and dreams on to the pitch with him, love to stick the knife in when he is out of form. The same old biffs who would slobber like an epileptic seal if they even got within 5 metres of him. Disgusting.

It really hasn't helped him having Martinez for the past two years. Absolutely nothing will have been worked on with regards to his work off the ball.

Koeman really needs to get a grip of him in this respect. Intensity in closing down and heading CAN be coached/worked on.

Leave the lad alone. He is having a dip yes - but fume and give him stick and he will be off and I wouldn't blame him, carry on abusing him then watch him play with freedom elsewhere and then abuse him for leaving us! Too much expectation and then blame on him when we don't win. Where were Mirallas and Bolasie today?? It's been a good start and if you can't accept the odd defeat get to the Etihad
