Everton Transfer Thread 2016

No mate, someone earlier proposed Anichebe as a back up striker. I was merely stating that Big Vic would likely be welcomed back with open arms by most on here but that whilst he would fulfill the 'marquee signing status' so many crave, his proneness to injury leaves me doubtful as to his suitability

Agreed mate.

I can accept factors falling into place outside of the clubs control that necessitate leaving it until the last minute to do more business, as far from ideal as that is. In saying that, it's acceptable only if we are still active today/tomorrow.

It's tempting to begin the post mortem right now but I guess the patient is still alive, if probably on life support at the minute. Things may still turn out ok and just best to see what unfolds now. I was hoping we would get one in now as at least that would take the sting out of tomorrow but it's looking like coming right down to the wire.

Yes I think all of that is fair. I always intended on judging the summers transfer activity at the end of the window, not when people were rejecting us/us not closing deals weeks ago. We are little over a day away from that now though and at present it doesn't look too clever, but as you've said there is still time.

I have no problem with being active on deadline day and this is part of football. However for such critical areas as a back up centre forward it seems a really needless risk. Even if we get out of jail tomorrow I think criticisms need to be made. The Niasse fiasco is evidence of this. Time becomes short, people cut corners, due diligence isn't done and mistakes then happen. We traded Naismith for Niasse last season. Whatever we think of Naismith we could have done with him at times last season and was a perfectly good back up striker, and we traded him for a lad who isn't good enough.

The situation now reminds me of a kid who hasn't done their homework. They leave it to the last minute and may still do ok on it, but it's not the point, the point is better preparation is needed.

Lets wait and see what tomorrows brings. I still hope they wouldn't be stupid enough to leave us with a strike force of Niasse, Kone and Lukaku but lets see.

"Nobody beats the bookie"

All bookmakers ensure that statistically they will never lose out. Gambling is inherently unfair regardless of the bookie you choose to bet with. Sky have just perfected the act of mugging off.

Bookies allow the punters to state the odds, Sky openly manipulate the market, its a bit like having a rigged pack of cards
