So if another premier league club had a thread celebrating the signing of Leiciesters chief scout and cone - putter -outer we'd all just nod along with agreement?
Dunno, but Leicester have a pretty long thread about loosing him. It's off season, we haven't signed any real players, people are just looking for some signs that we are moving in the right direction. This seems to be one.

No but he'll have a list of players to show Koeman for positions he wants to fill. You never know there could be another gem on it.

Of course they're fuming! He signed Vardy, Mahrez and co, they just won the league.

What I'm saying is where was his track record before Ranieri signed on and sorted those players out? He was a scout at Chelsea and saw Essien and Drogba, so what everyone in Europe wanted them.

I hope he comes in and we sign loads of unknowns like Leicester did and have a season like theirs but I can't see it. Someone above mentioned Graham Carr.

Sometimes a scout will luck out, it's a very unforgiving job and nobody even expects. 50% strike rate but he's not just coming in as scout. This is the fella who will sign the players Koeman has to fit into a system.
If we really wanted him as DOF why not get him in first and then get the manager? It makes no sense, DOF set the agenda for a club, they decide everything that happens on the playing side, that's why they outlive managers!

Moyes had a bid turn downed for Essien, if he signed him would he have been our new Director of Football??

Dunno. I don't think I'd be excited about any DOF/assistant manager type really.
in reality we shouldn't care about him and hopefully not notice him at all.

This time next year he will hopefully have done a good job behind the scenes, to the point we've all forgotten he's even there and are saying how ace "Koemans" signings have been
