Get in!!!!!!!!

I'm not arsed who we bring in as dof as long as it is not comoli. Hope we finds us at least one boss player for cheap.

Speaks volumes though we hire a guy who looks for players on a budget! Thought we were rich these days....

So if another premier league club had a thread celebrating the signing of Leiciesters chief scout and cone - putter -outer we'd all just nod along with agreement?
There have been plenty of threads about our back room staff in the past (generally not for congratulations to be showered on them). Stand up graham jones, Steve round, everyone who has been comms manager pretty much ever, RE, etc.

It's not new to talk about the staff. It's a bit weird to be celebrating it though as you say.

Bloke near me in the family enclosure used to teach with him in Chorley and is still in touch with him- has mentioned him a quite a few times over the past couple of seasons. Apparently works his proverbials off searching for talent, flying everywhere and checks and double checks everyone. Every signing is a gamble but would prefer his track record to what we have had, got to be better than Kevin Reeves in my opinion.

Buy players at a lower price, in the expectation that they will realise a healthy profit down the line when their talent blossoms, assuming they become surplus to requirements, while still spending the bigger bucks on the finished article to go straight in the first team. It's how footy rolls these days.

Im going with "un noticed and unappreciated stars in need of nurture" (ie on the cheap :))

All fairness though if his skill is finding players that fit the system the manager wants and can be effective in that system that's a great skill to have.

Walsh should be seen as a long term appointment, even longer than Koeman he'll likely be here after he's gone. As well as contributing to future signings he'll set up a structure that , if it works will see us well into the Moshiri era.
The guy is 63 so he won't be that long term.

Not as sexy as Monchi for sure, but if he's as good as his reputation then we've got a very solid fella on board. Koeman will still have plenty of input on signings I'm sure, hopefully they make a great team. And hopefully we might start signing a player here or there soon.

This bloke wouldnt have been our main target.

Just hope he wasnt too far down on the list.

Not convinced to be honest - sorry to be a miserable arse.

I agree. Pretty clear he wasn't #1, possibly not even #2 with some of the other names chucked around going back a month and a half ago.

Just hopeful that whoever comes in kicks off the transfer activity we've all been waiting for.

Not sure that Walsh's brief will be to get too involved in the current transfer window, Koeman will know all the targets he wants now. Walsh's role will be to unearth future talent at reasonable prices and/or identify established stars most able to immediately fit into the Everton picture.
