Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Neither of those finished top six and yes while they are stronger, I don't think they have actually improved yet have they?

Liverpool have done their usual of spunking loads on an in-consistent player from the south coast, and brought in a defender who has been half-decent in Germany (in fact they're now signing another as well, who nearly got relegated with Augsburg...). They hammered a side that is possibly the worst-performing Everton team (at that time) I have ever witnessed - but a side that had totally lost faith in their manager.

Chelsea have signed Batshuayi who is a wildcard and while a good player, isn't going to win them the title. Kante is a very good signing.

Spurs have added two decent squad players...

Stop fretting about other sides. This is what's wrong with the game - fans expecting £100s of millions to be spent every summer on a load of players.

IT DOESN'T WORK!!!

We have a solid squad that has underperformed (something which is widely acknowledged).

If the price is right we'll sell a few and that will be reinvested in quality replacements, while we'll also go for players that will add to what we have and make our first team stronger.

Basically, what I'm saying is four players of top-quality (for example, Mata, Witsel, Patricio, Rolan and Koulibaly) would improve our first team massively. Spending £150mil on those five would be much better than spending £200mil on 10 squad players, IMO, just for the sake of signing somebody...
You don't think Kante and Batshuayi have improved Chelsea? If they get their CB target they are good to go and will probably win the league.

The rest have added to their already strong squads in the positions that they needed to add. Liverpool needed a player like Mane, Arsenal have needed a player like Xhaka for years. Same with City, Utd and Spurs. None of those teams needed that much but they have added top players where they needed them. So far we have failed to do the same and we need more positions in both our squad and 1st 11 filled.

To be fair mate that does have to be balanced slightly. Southampton were in better shape than he left them, and Feyenoord were left in far better shape than he left them. He inherited a debt ridden club spiralling towards relegation and bankruptcy and left them as a side who finished in the top 2 of Holland after giving several young players an opportunity (De Vrij, Mendis-Indi, Claissie to name 3). Those are his last 2 jobs.

As regards Ajax yes they declined but when you look at his spend figures it can hardly be surprising, he brought in over twice as much as he spent. Similar story with PSV. He failed At AZ, Valencia & Benfica but there does need to be some balance about the last 2 jobs he's done.

Anyway in other matters on goalkeepers, Leno V Horn what do you make of each of them? How would your preference compare to De Stegen? And I suppose the key critical question, is the German keepers are so good why isn't there more interest in them do you think?

Cant argue with feyenoord but ajax dont forget he had Ibra i think and some other stars who should have won there easily.

southampton hes kept them in the same place as poch did with ours and liverpools fall...

Leno is FAR better than Horn, hes as close to workd class as you can be without being a national team starter. The best keepers bar horn and neuer have all left germany havent they?

So everyone bar Bayern, Juve, Chelsea etc. are just tiny inconsequential clubs???
No of course not. Teams that are regular last 16 finishers in the champions league etc I would count as top teams. We know who they are and Koeman hasn't managed any of them. Benfica and Valencia are a level below, the same level as we would be on.

I'm not mad mate, just disappointed.

But really how did you not know minutae? Have you never been to any form of official meeting?

Of course I have. (Can't remember if you know my job or not)

Just never seen/heard of it. How would I know about it if I've never seen it before?

Most people had Chelsea winning the league again last season though so think assumptions aren't too smart.

So the average PL club has signed *counts on fingers* maybe two players of any real note?

Oh no, how will we ever catch up? Quick, let's sign Jonjo Shelvey for £15m so the fans know we mean business.

To be fair at the time Valencia were the best outside kf Real and Barca....he fell out with the players, the fans hated him and he would have relegated them if he wasnt sacked.

Also to be fair Benfica were the best side in portugal by far when he took over. They won the seasons before and after he finished 3rd in a 3team league.

So he did manage 2 big clubs.
Still not top clubs.

I'm reminded of the Labour party's messy squabbles and not getting anything done in comparison to the Tories who've got their new team already in place.

Moshiri = Corbyn
