There were 2 lads near me, 1 at the end of our street that was u14/15 at time, his mum said that she'd never seen him at the a game or anything, in contrast to that she said Roberto was involved from day 1 & spoke to the parents even whereas Moyes had never done that even once.

Almost word for word the same as what was told to me.

If I were running Everton I'd do the following:

Set up a structure which is Everton - this would encompass youth training, sports science, medicine, analytics, scouting, recruitment. This would be staffed by Evertonians with the best training/internships you can get so that best practice could be bought in from around the world.

When a new first team coach was appointed they would simply bring in themselves and 5-10 others who would deal with the first team. Training, tactics and motivation would be their remit.

My worry was that after Moyes left we lost a lot of infrastructure that he'd set up. Our old analytics department was regarded as the best in the business but they are now all at Man City. Some of the academy staff are now at United as are some of our scouts with one at Chelsea.

Interesting comments, my first thoughts to your "set up a structure" was , " well we've got all that in place already" at least we have in terms of those positions . You're suggesting that we've lost some of the best people over the years? For me Alan Irvine was a great loss to our Academy structure.
Martinez, in fairness to him, was regarded as very supportive of our Academy structure, without having too much involvement I.e he didn't change much , let them get on with it his job was taken up with the 1st team. I think everything from u21 down should be retained as we are, pretty obvious really that, but we need an external person to take us forward. I'm hoping that if we do get the likes of a De Boer he will bring a flavour of the Ajax Academy with him , introduce new concepts at an Academy level, let the existing coaches carry on and allow them to develop too .

I get both sides obviously they don't have managerial experience yet but they kind of already do if it was unsworth and royle both of then have managerial experience.

Both of them get the club and have heir own ideas of what is expected which would fit into the fans

You also have to start somewhere I'd much rather them.two together for a year then pellegrini, because I actually think they'd do quite well it's just about being given the chance.

Obviously I'd prefer to go out and get emery or mourinho etc but if they were up for it interview them listen to their ideas and put someone in place to help them if they were given it.

It's certainly not as bad as people on here are making out but obviously it's just something we should consider if they have good ideas / we dont get someone top class.

Evidently communication skills were not his best attribute, but a magnificent player coach, whe Rooney made the grade you could see Harvey passes in him trained by a a great flair player, pity his management never took of for us!
