Bit of a surprise/worry to see the EFC website repeating this Martinez bilge on the homepage at the moment:

“I have spent three years at the football club and I’ve always said Everton is a very special club. You could see that with the way the fans represented the football club at Wembley.

“Every season we are developing and we are reaching certain signs that we can please our fans and bring silverware that they deserve but clearly in moments like this - of true disappointment - it can be real difficult to see the good things we have developed.

Can we all just take a minute and lighten the mood by appreciating the fact he was even remotely linked with the Barcelona job (true or not) after his first season with us - madness lollollol:Blink::Blink:

You know how we could lighten the mood don't you?

Just saying......

Is the anyone out there who actually wants him to stay? If so I would like to hear some logical reasons. Seriously interested.

And to think I was worried about him leaving at the end of his first season with all the Barcelona and Spain hype about him!

Im sure they all have an email address at the club.... Surley someone can find elstone's or someone else's email at the club... Just saying. Lets bombard their email accounts. Im sure its (insert name)@evertonfc.com

yes, Hammers was the game which saw a critical mass turn against him.

Niasse has turned out to be the rock upon which H.M.S. Martinez ran aground.

That is what has done it for me. Mr Niasse.

Came on against West Ham when 2-0 to the good. Cost 13.5m and has reminded me of those great days of Brett Angell and Stuart Barlow.
Now we can laugh all we want about wasting money on a comedy player, most sides in this league have done so often, But on Saturday Lukaku appeared to have been possessed by the Ghost of Barlow Past. Dreadful penalty, His diving header attempt was truly embarrassing, and coutless presentable chances miscontrolled or underhit. We needed a fresh striker desperately to take those presentable chances.
Camera cuts to comedy Umar, playing on his cellphone.
We sold a player in January who I would have backed all day long to score that diving header. We got good money from Norwich but wasted it.

We have gone backwords under him but if we sack him today, who will take over? Might be cheaper for us to let him see out the season then let him go and find a newcnanager then, the next manager is key, just no clue who it is

Bottom line is it is bang out of order for Martinez to swipe at Moyes. Moyes did a good job with limited resources and Martinez had no right to dig, especially given that he hasn't done anything that Moyes didn't and has spent more.

Neither Moyes or Martinez are top managers, both have their flaws and strengths, and its time for us as a club to strive for better.

I'll always be thankful for what Moyes did, given his resources and budget and consistently taking us to a top seven finish - especially when you look at what he took over from.

Martinez gave me the best year supporting Everton (that I can remember) in his first year in charge and built on what Moyes have left - albeit with a bit of luck. Since then though, he's destroyed everything Moyes built to install his own philosophy - which I wouldn't of minded had it worked - but it's been quite the opposite.

As I said, it's time for us to strive for better and get back to the top with this new owner - make a statement and get in a world class manager. No more nearly men, bring in a winner - someone that might spice things up and do things different, but after 21 years of nothing I think it's safe to say we need a change.

Its desperation and nothing more

He knows he is in trouble and now he is lashing out at anyone and everyone in a tragic attempt to save his job. I will take this as a positive sign that he hasn't convinced the board about his long term future otherwise there would be no need for all of this about Moyes.

One thing that I have learned about this is that he is not the "Nice man" everyone was saying Roberto is by having a dig at Moyes is crass and classless, not the EFC way. Especially after the last 2 seasons he has dished up for us and after a fluke 1st season he is giving it to predecessor who's record is much over a longer period with meagre resources.

The man has lost the argument, the players, the fans, and now he has lost his dignity

Bobby just go
