All I get when I discuss Martinez with friends and work colleagues is "why do you want him sacked? He's doing a decent job. You're not going down and in a safe mid table position. Where do you think he should have you? Top 6? don't be unrealistic".

Totally depressing and it's driving me bonkers.

I still don't see that tbh, or at least they will let him go and then negotiate with the new man before unveiling him. Come the end of the season there is plenty of dead time in which to get on with that, meaningless to rush it through just to announce it, does no-one any favours.
Allowing a thoroughly deficient manager to continue in this vein reflects badly on the board, will only encourage the players to consider moving on, will impact season ticket sales, and will limit prize money based on league position.

But yeah, other than that, no reason to sack him at all.

But the season finishes middle of May, so you're including a period of 2 and a half months where we don't play to try and exaggerate your stat.
I am not exaggerating that stat though? Not when goal scoring runs count from one season to the next (van nistelroy 11 goals? in a row started the season before), or Unbeaten runs are counted from previous seasons (arsenal?).

So it isn't exagerating to say if we dont win again this season it will be a run of 5 months per league wins in the league.

happy now?

They clearly do not know anything about either football or Everton by the sound of it. i'd avoid the conversations if they get you that stressed!

That's why RM turned down the RS job before. He realised he was a fraud, more likely to be exposed in that job and booted out promptly. As I said yesterday somewhere else, RM carefully picked us, knowing that he could manipulate and hoodwink a gushy old luvvy romantic like Bill with a load of waffly guff.

some right auld tosh coming out now - just sack him ffs Mosh, before some start putting the tinfoil on their heads...or worse - not putting it on

Here's a strange idea for us to consider (pin hopes to)...

The delay in dismissing Martinez might be due to it taking a little longer than expected to dot the i's and cross the t's on a staggering appointment to replace him.

The job awaiting the new manager is a big one, a massive one as the whole mindset within the club needs to alter course. This is a genuine project, a chance for the right person to mould a club, a team, a fan base into a dynasty.

I'm leaning towards thinking that we're not getting any kind of also-ran or up-and-coming manager, that we are working hard on a genuine top quality candidate who is seeking plenty of assurances from the new owner who is doing his utmost to provide them in such a way as to give the manager total authority to re-build our club with a five-year target of minimum CL qualification and (at least) one domestic cup.

This, I hope
........or behind the scenes nothing is happening and the board think every thing is honky dory and we keep Roberto til the end of his contract. We, on here, have created a monster out of this. There is no concrete evidence that any talks have transpired or any interviews have taken place. We have built these rumours up out of hear say because we, so much, want them to be true.

Of course , on the other hand, he could be gone by the end of today :celebrate:

I can`t honestly see what is to be gained by keeping Martinez in place until the end of the season.
Nothing good can come from this death of a thousand cuts. All this will do is breed more unrest.
Cut the cord now and move on.

plenty of reason to sack him mate, but you really think candidates with something left to achieve would even entertain us until their season is over? Imagine sitting down with Pellegrini before he takes his team to the CL semis? Now isn't the time to be negotiating the new manager unless they are out of work already, that will be done in the close season.

I want him sacked now as much as the next person sure, annoys me that he hasn't been.

Story of his career with Jenkins, Whelan and now Bill. Proper brown nose to match his shoes. Even the picture from when he went over and met up with satan and his cronies in the states he looks like smee.

Whelan was talking this guy up for managing barca/reals of this world :celebrate:

If we want a successful team we need a leader not another smee/Smithers type.
