I was too young to remember, but always wonder what the reception was for Walker when he got appointed? Were fans happy given his 'achievements' at Norwich? Or was he always doubted?

Hiya mate. My memory is that Mike Walker was a Norwich man who belonged at Norwich. He achieved great things for that club.
However, any move was going to be a poison chalice. Similar in some respects to Moyes going to Manchester. A good C.V, but not the right man for the job and Everton chocked under him. I do not recall many speaking favourably upon appointment.

We were happy.

Norwich had dumped Bayern out of Europe and Mike was flavour of the month at the time.

He'll be remembered for some great attacking displays but not for finishing 5th. That will be down to David Moyes' influence in defence as much as his own brand of attacking play. He'll also be remembered for us losing us some of our best players and ruining some.

Worst of all is turning us into a laughing stock.
