Would be harsh to sack a manager who won us a trophy for the first time in 21 years plus the board wont sack him if he wins the f.a cup
Well the RS sacked dalglish and he'd just won a league cup, lost an fa cup final and finished 7th in the league. He is an icon at that club and sentiment didn't get in the way when they dismissed him. Martinez has had 2 years to address our appalling league form and sentiment shouldn't get in the way should we win the fa cup. I don't think Utd will show any sentiment towards LVG should he win the cup. He has failed in the league, which is where most managers are judged.

True. I don't think Kenwright will sack Martinez if he wins the cup because he believes in Bobby's bs. However, I really do not see how this club will benefit in long terms under the management of Martinez in particular how poorly we have done in the league for a significant period.

The decision to sack him is purely based on the league form since the beginning of 2014-2015 season and if someone is not up to the job I won't call it harsh to sack him. He is backed by the board with money and time considerably as reasonable to showcase his worth. Clubs like RS did the same it's the way how you view what Everton shall achieve. 11th and 12th (at the moment) and 30% winning rate are fair assessment in judging his ability as a whole.

To sum up, I particully agree with you. He won't be sacked if he wins the cup despite burning bridges with portion of the fans as well as losing the dressing room.

Yep, wins the cup and he going nowhere unless he sacked before the semi.if he wins and it's still the same at Christmas's then the fans will be forcing his sacking. The fa cup will only win him 6 months to turn the league form around.

Even if we do go on to win the FA Cup, we should part company with him.

If it's down to BK, then you may be right... And BK would be totally wrong.

The primary competition is the league and it's that that truly indicates success and progression, and acts as the attractor for players and indeed further investment.

I admire loyalty, but there comes a point where it is grossly misplaced and in my opinion, we are way beyond that point.

I'm really worried that a potential fa cup win could overshadow 2 years of inept failure in the league and keep him in a job. I really hope your wrong mate, about him being here till xmas.

Exactly. The RS had no problem in sacking a legend or the manager that almost won them the league because they actually have a NSNO mentality in which they truly believe that nobody is bigger than the club. This attitude has been lost at Everton over the last few decades, and we seem to be acting more like a social services department than we do a football club.

I can remember the first time it was suggested that a manager of Emery's caliber should replace Martinez, and people actually expressed an aversion to the idea on the basis that it may hurt Gerard Deulofeu's feelings. Jesus, if Deulofeu feels hurt by the appointing of a new manager then he can go hire himself a counselor, either that or do what he is being paid millions of pounds to do and get on with playing for Everton FC.

I can 100% confirm there is no review scheduled until season end. Despite the hysteria on here that he may go tonight etc - he won't. Naturally if we lose all of the next 3 there may be a change of plan but as of now it's season end.

Well said. Loyalty is important and it shouldn't be easily disregarded, but equally there must be a balance whereby such devotion is earnt.

For those who require loyalty from those below then ultimately it has to be justified. Take away the football aspect and look at in a general way.

Martinez is a leader of a group - an officer (military) or an executive (business). In most case you do as you're asked because it's your role...

... it's your duty. You may not agree but you follow. However, if they consistently show signs of poor leadership then that loyalty will soon dwindle.

Eventually if they keep leading in the wrong direction, although regrettable, people will eventually realise that offering such loyalty is unjust.

At that point the whole system crumbles. We've supported the manager long enough, but now it's at a point that such loyalty is detrimental.

It's not an easy decision to remove a manager and it shouldn't be done lightly, although I now it is as the correct decision for the club.

For it's the club and it's fortunes that are the most important aspect to us all and any action should always have that underpinning it.

Keeping a manager simply because we don't like sacking them, or for wanting to show unrelenting loyalty, isn't having the club's interest at heart.

Or at least not in some aspects.
