The key part of The Esks story imo.

"The removal of Martinez would say a huge amount for our anticipated direction of travel in the next few years, it would confirm where the true balance of power now lies at Goodison, and frankly would send a very powerful message out to fans and competitors alike that we mean business and are willing to make the decisions necessary to be successful."

Danny Murphy standing up for Martinez now. He obviously wants us to fail. Stops short of calling us a small club.

“If three or four games went a bit better for them they’d be sat in seventh or eighth.”

good little Everton

he is a beaut of the highest order - i listened to him with gritted teeth on the TS breakfast show 3 months ago and he was saying that Martinez was lucky to be in a job where he had time because anywhere else he would be sacked.

He is a smack fiend - he can kiss my hoop.

Exactly the kopites know too well us with a serious manager with our new investment would pose a big threat to them. Just a shame the boardroom can't see that.

He also said sport scientists and nutrionists were "job justifiers" and that the modern footballer could look after themselves .

Strangely he got dropped by the BBC not long afterwards.

It is becoming embarrassing now I would like the board to act asap! We lose the next couple of games the press will have a feild
day. Best way to finish this season is without Martinez, may just convince Lukaku to stay if we show some intent

English is only his second language but I don't think that's really an issue mate, he's married to a Scot, who more or less speak the same language after all.

It all feels a bit like the end of Harvey's reign to me. Obviously we're not in any danger of being relegated, but everyone loved Harvey and desperately wanted him to succeed, but a change was needed.
Yeah his English is fine. Suppose I meant how he uses language really. Don't really listen to him that much If I'm honest because it's not the way I'm used to hearing football discussed. Doesn't mean he's not right about a lot of things though.
I have to be honest I feel like people aren't going to see him as a winner and that's going to see him gone eventually. That probably is very similar to Harvey. Although never bought into the idea of winners or losers myself.
I just don't want to see a change in the philosophy he's trying to instil.

Just realised I've typed 'going, going, gone' in one sentence there. Not a hidden message

I have noticed that He(and the press) keep talking about EFC being in 2 Semi finals this year as if that's a definition of success. Surely that is the antithesis of NSNO, championing coming third!
Don't get me wrong I like Martinez positive personality, but, one of the key things a successful leader has to do is acknowledge their own weaknesses and hire, bring in, people to fill those gaps, and then listen to and implement their advice.
I get the feeling Roberto has not done that, particularly in terms of dressing room motivation and defensive qualities - but I also get the feeling that with the help f the press he is polishing his resume for the next job by lauding the phenomenal achievement of 2 semi finals in one season despite the league performances.
I actually believe, FA cup or not, he may resign at the end of the season to preserve the positivity of his own career.

I like this - Carry on Charles!
