Past 2 seasons he has been way off his best and quite rightly lost his position to oviedo.
Total mess defensively on the left with his wandering.
Think he has spoken out as he knows he will be losing his place again and also has been dropped from the england squad.
Play better and keep your mouth shut...if he wasnt local and a long term player he would be getting loads of stick.
And yet when Oviedo plays we concede more goals per game than when Baines starts and oviedo also creates less going forwards than Baines - care to explain why Oviedo should be playing?
As above when he plays we concede less goals per game than when oviedo plays, and considerably less than when Galloway plays left back, by wandering - you mean the fact he follows the managers instructions about pushing high up the pitch - which if you knew anything about us you'd know is a clear instruction and how Martinez plays with the fullbacks - the centre backs are supposed to spread wide and cover that space down the side - with Barry dropping in - else Barry is meant to drop into that spot to cover himself
on top of that - you do realise that we play one player - the fullback on the left and no one ahead of them mate - so who is responsible for leaving our left back 1 v 2 throughout most of the game?
yes he will likely lose his place - he has spoken up against whats going on - and Martinez has shown that anyone who doesn't blindly follow his phillosophy is ostracised, as for being dropped - as i said earlier the defensive record is better when he plays than when the other fullbacks play, he creates more as well, so dropping him would only illustrate that it is not for footballing reasons and would make Martinez look very petty wouldn't it?
He is local, he is long term, and hearing him saying what we can all see is refreshing, particularly love the part that he praises the fans and say that they deserve better, makes a change to see them being praised after they have been blamed routinely by the manager lately for ourt failings
Baines will go down as one of the best Everton players i have ever seen, someone who stayed loyal to the club when bigger clubs came knocking, Martinez will be some little footnote right above Walter Smith and Mike Walkers entry on the list of crap everton managers
