I think now we shouldnt be comparing him to Howard.

If we want to be successful we need a Nigel Martyn level keeper so i think that should be the comparison....not Tim Howard.

Tim has given us good service over the years but Martinez has been too loyal too him, Joel has been more than patient but seems to have grabbed the opportunity well and is improving each game good luck to the lad. Sorry Tim your race is run all good things must come to an end.

Far to loyal it has cost us a top four place no doluby about it you can look back and count the lost points with Timmys mistakes or erors of judgement Robles is playing with the same sort of defence which looked dodgy even v the lowly villa - they had not had a corner for two games yet they managed 9 corners v us!

Robles isn't near Martyn's level let's be honest. He is a solid, competent Premier League keeper who does the basics of his job though. I've missed those at Everton

Martinez should be ashamed of the points HE has cost us this season with his blind faith to Tim Howard. The Champions League spots were there for the taking, and he's single-handedly cost us a real chance of one of them.

RM has to take responsibility for picking Howard, but Howard has to take the blame as well for being so bad so consistently. He had the faith shown in him (wrongly) by the manager, and didn't repay it in any way other than a few good performances vs Spurs and City.

Got a lot of time for Howard as I think he's done well for us over the years, but his form dipped completely by the end of 2014.

Robles isn't playing with the same defense. Howard has never played with a back four of Coleman, Jagielka, Funes Mori, and Oviedo in front of him.

The Howard era is over and I don't want to see him back in goal for Everton ever again; that's not the point. My point is that we finally seem to have hit upon our best defensive lineup, and that's got as much to do with our defensive improvements over the last months as anything.

pretty sure howards had coleman, jags funes mori and baines infront of him. So that argument is so poor.

I'd keep Joel at number 1 for next season and get him an understudy. If he doesn't work out, get someone else in. For the moment, I love him. He has done VERY little wrong.

FGS that defence sill looks poor bottom team Villa did more v us tha anyone else 9 corners?
Fortunate the we now have a keeper who comnicates and save the ball with his hands mainly!
Are you taking the proverbial as it's the same squad no new additions in defence since January just a better goalkeeper!
