Come off it. Villa had more shots against us than they have had in the previous 3 matches or more combined. That is abysmal by us to be honest.

We were lucky they didn't snatch a second as there was certainly a few squeaky bum moments. And if they did get it.. Villa would have been well up for grabbing an equaliser.

Obviously it didn't happen and we got the three points. But let's not pretend it was happy days.. we were poor.

And against the likes of West Ham we will be punished that's for sure.

Martinez subs were half the problem for me. Shoehorning him in and experimenting with Stones as a back 3. When we should have been throwing Del and Niasse on earlier to go for the jugular and boost confidence.

This is interesting, it's done by a statistician called Michael Caley. It shows the value of the shots taken and the expectancy of each one going in. Think this tells you how dangerous the shots, and Villa, actually were. We were good value for our win.

i couldn't care less we didn't play 'great' we won 3-1
Villa were obviously going to give a good game also having fans
against them [well owners] but them too? so im happy coyb ! :) wins a win.

also thought are fans were great and got a lot of respect of their fans.
don't usually get on with Villa as much but weve been in that same situation,
it was nice to see the reaction of us instead of being like 'were out of that now..
lets all laugh at you lot [like City/Chelsea no marks.

also what a week for us eh??????

Hello Kyle I agree with your point there mate.

They must have had about ten corners last night......having previously not had one in three games

Exactly mate. Im happy we won don't get me wrong but we was poor. Thankfully against a team that can't buy any luck right now. As for that chart posted. Stats don't prove much in my eyes, I watched the game and they could have easily scored 3 and embarrassed us completely. One hit jags that was goalbound just as an example.

For a team that have struggled to even register shots it's worrying how many we let them have.

Need to buck our ideas up for the next game

Though we didnt get going last night,
But I actually sorry for the villa fans , the least they should expect is a team putting in a bit of effort.
ok the might not be the best team but that doesn't stop them having a go.
Only the forward , and the lad agaist coleman looked like they gave a toss.
Villa normally have a few decent kids knocking about they would be better giving them a run out, the current lot are a discrace, taking there fans for granted .
Have seen some rubbish at goodison over the years , but even then we had more than a couple trying.
Saying that we won so not all bad

Back from villa and got to say half time was mental, well done everyone, covered in loads of booze but it was [Poor language removed] brilliant. Youse all played a Major part in that win, well done lads xxx

I thought half time was the highlight of the whole night. The noise was incredible. It wasn't just you who got soaked in ale, either. My coat stank of it this morning!!!

Based on that last 10 minutes? Nah it was never remotely looked like we were going to drop points. Villa only started playing once the 3rd went in

Not my take on it at all. Yet another shakey performance where we took the lead then struggled to comfortably close the game out. This against one of the the worst premier league sides in living memory. Nothing we havent seen before countless times with this imposter.

Got to give a shout out to the Everton fans following our 3-1 loss to them last night.

The Toffees fans came in great numbers as they always do (and as us Villans on the road always do) and of course, the usual banter songs of going down were sung... we`d be doing the same so no good getting offended and also, it isn`t anything we don`t already know to be fair!

Anyway, remembering this is the most played game in the league because of the age of both these esteemed clubs, as the match progressed they got slightly quieter. We were joking where I sit that we were so bad that we`d shocked the Everton fans into silence.

The Villa fans started to sing anti Randy and anti Tom Fox songs and then pretty much all around the ground came out a rallying call, Villa til I die which hopefully reminds the owner, the board, the manager, the players... they come, they go... WE STAY.

I looked over at the Everton fans and they were standing and clapping the Villa fans.

A fantastic touch of respect. Proper fans recognising proper fans. As another also noted in the forum, it is these 'little` but special moments that remind me why I love football so much.

That's exactly as it was last night inside and outside the ground. Had a pint in the Hair of the Dog at the Uni and it was depressing to see and speak to Villa fans and how they've been expecting the drop for several seasons and how it's been inevitable given the disinterest of their 'new' owners.
Hope they'll bounce back, but with that side it'll be a real struggle in an ultra competitive league.

This place is just laughable.

We play well but don't win and the so-called 'plotters' come out full-on-fume about how proper Evertonians should be ashamed of wanting anything other than a win and that playing well but not getting points is for happy-clappers. We then win, and they decide it's not good enough because we didn't play well.

You just couldn't make it up.
