Right I'm over my disappointment that we were a bit meh. Thought we would utterly murder these.

Still, a nice 3 points and up to 10th in the table! What a time to be alive!

Think we would have easily in fairness had we just stepped it up that bit more. Problem was we sat too deep after our third, when really had we just stepped up that extra 5/10 yards at times we'd have been free on their goal pretty much every time.

Not really arsed like as we've won, and it's not like we're going to have to try and play in a similar way against W.Ham.

Just got back from the game. Always hated Villa in the 90s (did we ever beat them then?) but after tonight, without wanting to patronise them, wow, I feel sorry for them. They actually showed some humour and passion which if maybe their fans had showed that a few years back and put more pressure on Lerner, they wouldn't be in the state they're in now. Hope we never sleepwalk into a situation like that!

As one or two have mentioned, I honestly think we didn't get out of second gear. Don't think we were awful, but we were just 'game managing'. Never have I felt so comfortable in a game (until the Stones substitution) as I did today. We didn't need to bust a gut. Not over the moon with it, but certainly not going to lambaste Martinez for it, even if I'm not a fan of his. May as well try something out like 3 at the back when you're 3-0 up against one of the worst sides to be seen in this league!

Will be a poorer league without Villa and Villa Park. But for us, it's onwards and upwards. Suddenly that 'feel good' factor is back at the club!

It's ridiculous, isn't it?
Villa aint great but there is no easy games in prem anymore.we didnt play pretty football like we know we can but im sure we had a gear or so to go up if necessary.half empty ground and early goal didn't create a classy performance but we coasted to 3pts which is all that mattered.thought mori looked awesome,Robles looked great at times but worrying too.rest of the team just coasted to victory.goodbye villa.

I was happy that Gestede did not play from the off. In Villa's plight, I would have down a 2 bus WBA
and left Gestede on his todd waiting for the odd centre and corner.

Good to see that our corners have improved but for some reason Barkley and co. continually underhit
them at home.

Maybe Del Boy will play a bit on saturday. We might need his ingenuity but hats off to Lennon for his goal, workrate
and threat. Also, Mori should be praised. Hard to see how Stones starts again for EFC barring injuries??

Was it a vintage performance? no...but winners are grinners. Well in Everton. A steeper hurdle awaits this weekend in the form of West Ham (aka Payet's Ankle); let's all lend combined support toward our surmounting that.
The last few days have been great ones... for all Evertonians...
