next weeks fume will always be the next biggest...the only way is up.

To be honest I don't feel they are that inconsistent at all. It's just one of the excuses used by the pro Martinez posters as to why we don't win games. I'm just trying to get to the root of it.

I started naming examples then deleted them all.

I do understand people's frustrations and a lot of posters have made some fair points on both sides of the argument.

What I don't like is when us lot who don't want Martinez out are accused of ignoring the facts, yet when it's the other way round with posters who are dead-set on wanting RM out it sometimes seems that they can't be reasoned with, even though we have presented them with facts.

As much as I don't agree with Davek on everything, he presented those goal stats from the league which made a lot of sense and clearly show the improvement since the turn of the year.

Now I've got no issue with people criticising Martinez, but it's the lazy, generic criticism of 'we can't defend' that gets me - yet when we sit back to defend as we did against City it gets criticised and yet when we go for the attack it gets questioned why we don't defend more?

Fgs, we had someone on here yesterday criticising him for not slating Atkinson in his pre-match presser.

He's made mistakes and I don't think any fair and reasonable fan would deny it.

But that doesn't equate to him being sacked and the reality is he won't be anyway, so in the grand scheme of things all the negativity is only breeding more negativity and nothing more.

Might as well just get to the end of the season and see where we end up as even though we aren't where we want to be there's 12 games left and the season is still in the balance and we've shown enough for me personally to believe RM is the right man to take us forward.

It will be close. In fairness most of the fume comes from the pro Martinez crowd as their arguments get shot down. If we lose they'll be on double shifts of propaganda peddling, If we win he's the messiah and they need to fume against everyone who criticised him

I happen to think that the early period of the season and the last matches we've played have been marked by a less adventurous 'flatter' back four.

Early season we had a few games with Galloway and Browning being thrown in and they are players that dont bomb on and will remain in their own half a lot more than Baines/Coleman. This later period we've seen Oviedo step in - who is much more solid than Baines defensively - and we have a less adventurous CB pairing in Jagielka/Mori.

I dont think there's any doubt that when we take a more conservative approach (especially at FB) we concede less.

And the fault is with.......The manager.

I have no complaints in how we are playing, well apart from pressing higher up the pitch which I'd like to see, but in general it's a total change from last year.

However, if you've admitted that a conservative back four as us shipping less goals then you must agree that this was the managers fault for banging the same drum for months, which virtually ruined our season again.

He's an experienced premier league manager, not learning his trade, if thousands of people can see the issue and it's blatantly obvious then he's no different from Moyes who was in the same boat with his ability to attack teams on a regular basis.

Last year we could have wrote off, but if the same frailties are constantly on show, and they have been through his entire Pl career,then all fingers point in his direction and rightly so

I don't think you saw any of us fume when we won those two games...

What you did see was justification in our argument that it's not all doom and gloom and our manager does know how to get the best out of this team.
