True but small margins McCarthy doesn't get injured & stays on the pitch I believe we win the game.

And I think that's the most frustrating thing about seemingly most of the anti-Martinez brigade, the lack of appreciation to all factors.

Martinez has made some mistakes. Some players have made mistakes. We are part way through the plan of transfer Windows for improving the squad. We've had to contend with injuries to key player - most defensive, we have a wealth of promising young, inconsistent players because we can't afford seasoned pros of the same quality.

Throw it all in a big mixing bowl and you get a premier football team still yet to crack on and take the season by the scruff of the neck.

But wait. No. Scratch that. It's all Martinez, Kone and occasionally Barkleys fault.

I'm saying that last minute winner would have been a big boost. But instead conceding again had a drastically opposite effect.

I agree that we may well have won the game with McCarthy on the pitch, and I agree that fine margins decide games. It really does even out though, we played Leicester when they didn't have huth, Morgan or drinkwater playing but we still lost. Shawcross is a massive loss for Stoke and we took advantage. West Ham fans clearly think they would have gone on to beat us had payet not gone off. They also lost Valencia in the same game. So no @mkrudden it is not just 'anti-martinez' fans not taking things into account, it is people looking at the whole picture and not just what suits them.

I get what you mean about Bournemouth knocking the stuffing out of us but as I say there have been similar instances where we've suddenly gone off the rails. Look at our April results last season, seemingly flying and then lose 3 of the last 4. People said last year that it was the chelsea 6-3 that damaged them, now it's bournemouth. Are the team really so mentally weak that one poor result (not even loss) affects an entire season? If they are, there's far more serious problems than the goalkeeper and manager to worry about.

Agree & good teams find ways to overcome adversity & we don't. Perhaps that's due to our best players being younger & inexperienced or not enough winners with character it's difficult to understand.

The worst thing is I think we are clearly good enough to overcome adversity wether it be through bad luck with injuries or poor decisions by officials.
This however is the point the Roberto's in game management needs to help us out as this season I dont believe he has been good enough at this.

The claim that this won't work because Martinez would not accept additional support is baffling. The argument must be that without the additional support his time at Goodison is only going to be as good as his results.

This is the ultimate win/win scenario. Dave gets to keep Martinez in place at Everton and the rest of us see an increased prospect of Martinez' weaknesses being eradicated through defensive coaching and superior tactics from the expanded coaching team.

Leicester's season is a freak season according to you (you even asked to be vaulted if they beat us), Spurs are on a freak season also apparently, now our 04/05 was a freak season. Guess which one isn't though? That's right the 72 points under Martinez which was so sustainable he's got absolutely nowhere near it since (literally nowhere, not even remotely close). Has it occurred to you that maybe 13/14 was the freak season?

So I'm on the 'out' side of the fence but here's the thing part of me says the Spurs fans wanted rid of Pottcetino last season and look what's happened this season given time. Bobby doesn't do it for me. On the one hand it's the best attacking football since 1985 and on the other hand we have no attacking plan B and we're defensively dysfunctional. One thing is for certain. Nothing is gonna change before the end of the season. Is it just that Bobby needs to bring in a stronger defensive coach and change his back room staff. Or do we need a new team like Leicester cos whatever Ranieri is doing he's doing it with the same personnel and the same talented and motivated squad as Pearson finished with. And yet I doubt Pearson would be sitting top of the league right now. So yes maybe the difference we need (and the difference between Bobby and Howard Kendall) is a manager who has won things and who gives this group of clearly talented EFC players the belief (like joe royle in '95) that they can cross the winning line.

Personally - sack Bobby. Bring in Peter Reid with a team of Duncan, Sheeds, Stubbs, Unsworth etc to support
