Roberto Martinez discussion

I predict an alternative league table will rear it's head before the season is out.

It'll be needed when Everton get a merciless Gegenpressing (or whatever it's called) at Wembley North in a few weeks.

There's already a load of them:

Top of the most goals scored by a team who aren't on a freak season league

Top of the best football in the league when you discount defence league

Going well in the non loss league when you take away a few recent losses

Pulling up trees in the away goals conceded league

Doing very well in the real league table when you remove teams with good keepers, teams playing 'not to lose football' and teams who are utter frauds having freak seasons.

But by far the biggest achievement of the lot has to be winning the 'one point of fifth if we'd won two more games' trophy.

Seriously how was this a wk fest? I do not understand the point of taking things out of context so that he can prove an invalid argument. Could you please read #37592 and #37594 carefully which was the initial conversation, I said "Did I call for his sacking since the beginning of this season (last season yes i.e during 2014-2015 season I did)? I always said review his position in May 2016." And the idiot digged out quotes that were from summer 2013 and the lastest one was 3 June 2015.

Let's get this straight. Did I favour his appointment? No, I am not denying that at all. Did I favour him all along or change my stand/opinion week in week out? No. Did he prove me wrong in his first season when he got 5th? Yes. However, he is not doing himself any favour since the start of 2014-2015 season. I don't see why shouldn't I question his records since August 2014. 20 wins out of 64 league matches which is just dreadful and not good enough. This team is struggling to beat PL teams at Goodison in the past 18 months too. Now the main question comes, did I call for his sacking since the start of this season? No (oh if such post did exist, you would have read them by now). Last summer I was saying let's review Martinez's position in Christmas 2015. Now that Christmas has past and the results have not improved I still stand by my words. It is not good for the club to sack him in the middle of the season and he shall have the remaining league games to prove a point.

Martinez made great signings for this club except a few. Credit to him but the league results are very poor since the 2014-2015 season. People are not happy with 20 wins out of 64 league matches and are questioning his ability to turn things around which is understandable unless you think the league results are okay and finishing another season in the 10th or 11th position is some kind of progress.

His position at the club shall be review at the end of season. As of today, I think he is taking the club backwards based on the PL league table. I can be wrong. I was wrong in summer 2014 but not in summer 2015 and we shall see what will happen in summer 2016. You don't lose to the like of West Brom, Swansea and Stoke etc at home dude.

Honestly, you change your opinion faster than I change my undies. It's hard to debate with someone like that. I just hope finish strong for your sake. You wouldn't know which side of the fence to be on, it'd be tiring for you.

Well considering we put in a pitiful 2nd leg performance that doesn't really matter. No one's arsed that we beat Kiev in the first leg last season.

Far from pitiful that performance. For 70 minutes up until a terrible refereeing decision we played it as well as we could - just like WBA did to us the other day.

Defended well and rode our luck at times, but we were well in it. We've put in much worse performances this season.

SIX shots on goal.

Six.

The rest were off-target or blocked. Don't pretend their keeper had a tough day at the office.

The majority of our shots were from outside the area, and were off-target. Hardly a "system" to boast about.

Two of those shots that were 'off target ' hit the post.

Shots on goal doesn't just mean shots that were off target.

We had over 30 shots, and created over 20 chances. They are the official stats.

To say WBA had 10 men in their area the majority of the second half, I don't think it's bad going.

The problem was the finishing touch which the players couldn't apply after doing the hard work.

Also, it'd be interesting to see how many shots on goal City had against us at the Etihad in the semi, considering how all the Martinez-outters call that such a bad display.

Refresh my memory, Toff.

What refereeing decision went against us in Kiev?

I thought it was the Alcaraz show thst derailed us :(

If a team is down on its luck, just dire, or from leagues 1 or 2, we'll do them proper.

Beginning to think flat track bullies might be a tag for our brave boys but really hope I'm wrong.

I didn't mention the Kyiv game?

I've said multiple times I'm only bothered about this season.

Kyiv was a poor team selection and we paid for it. City was much different.

City battered us that game, they hit the post twice and offered absolutely no attacking threat down the other end. We didn't deserve anything.

It really showed Martinez up as clueless when the day before the game he came out and said in the press that he wasn't interested in clean sheets, just winning when all we needed to get through was a clean sheet.
