Roberto Martinez discussion

I struggle to see the sudden surge in anti Martinez sentiment, I mean I have understood it at various points in the season, but it seems to be more prevalent now than at any other stage, despite the most recent facts being;

4 Games, 3 Wins, 1 loss, 9 Goals Scored, 1 Conceded, defence generally looking more solid and Howard replaced as number 1.

I think some of you just look for the first opportunity to jump on Martinez despite obvious signs of progression.
I believe it to be down to his complete lack of man-management and dreadful subs, amongst tactically sabotaging all our games

Its brilliant you know so much that happens behind closed doors, are you sleeping with one of the players? Work for the coaching team?

I think you also need to check your facts on how much McGeady is being paid, because you're wrong by the way.

He is @bluestevon best mate apparently.

Look at Mick straight into the front foot there.

Can't be trained that, natural fer.

Not really, it's just easier than always typing out the full names if the nick-name is a common phrase.

Does everything have to be 'kopite'?
I`m not tarring people with the "kopite" brush willy nilly.

ALL the reds i know do it as a matter of course.

It`s just one of the MANY things about the rs in general that winds me up.

Your correct it was Turkey he went 5 months after we shipped him off to Italy, once he proved a utter disaster for Sampdoria wasn't it?

Oh I'm not saying he wasn't a totally ego-maniac mate.

I just wouldn't go as far to compare him to 'disasters' like Kroldrup or Simon Davies, for example.

At the time it gave everyone a boost and he scored on his debut. He got us a vital point in the Europa and won us the game at Burnley.

It was around the end of November (the weekend where we lost to Spurs) that something happened within the squad. It completely broke down after that result and the results went with it.

I think it's then that experienced players like Eto'o and Distin started becoming much more of a negative impact than a positive one.

I'm sure we are nice goals for and 1 against in the past four games. How is that tactically sabotaging man?
Honestly i'm just exaggerating for the hell of it, but it's the consistency in his like-for-like substitutions (lennon for geri) and bringing Osman on to change a game etc that frustrates me most. This is what I was hinting at by tactically sabotaging games, just as it's happened far too often this season. He should also be willing to change his tactics according to the team we play, imo.

I'm just on the fence with Martinez. One week his talk and game looks like he's a world beater, and the next we are found out. Rinse and repeat.

Pleased to see a brother next to me on the fence. It's the place to be.

But Arteta left two years before he joined? And players in the mould of Pienaar are very hard to find and, actually, are becoming rarer and rare in the Prem when you look at a lot of other teams...

Gibson has had tons of injuries and it has nothing to do with him being marginalised. When he's played he hasn't performed or been able to perform to a high enough level to get ahead of Barry, McCarthy or Besic in the pecking order.

Oviedo, again, has had horrible injuries and has in no way being marginalised. Fellaini was sold because he wanted to leave and we rinsed United for him and used that money to get a quality striker in.

Naismith, again, for all his work ethic, is only suitable in one position and that is where Barkley plays. I think I know who i'd rather have and again we got a great fee for Naismith.

Martinez has got over 50 goals out of Lukaku, he's got over 10 assists out of Del this season who had a torrid time under a different manager last year at Sevilla. Besic, again, has been injured loads this season but when he's played he's been excellent. Rarely has the lad been fully fit and being on the bench so again your argument is a nothing point.

McCarthy, likewise, is in the team to do a job that he often does brilliantly and that is break up opposition play. When he gets forward - which Martinez often instructs him to - he has provided two assists this season - two months of which he has missed.

Funes-Mori has played over 20 games for us in his first season in English football and is now considered genuine competition/a first team regular. He has also scored 3 goals and got a couple of assists.

Galloway, again, is 19 years old and has now made over 20 appearances in the Premier League. He's a full back who is going to be a centre back. Tell me what more RM could have got out of him at this stage?

Again, there's an individual excuse for everything, but when you add them up the collective answer does not come out as you'd expect. If all of the above were true we would not have had 18 months in the bottom half.

I don't agree on Gibson, he's been fit for a while now but barely seen, he could have been used off the bench. Oviedo is playing now but when fit has been benched behind Galloway at times.

No problem if he wanted to sell Fellaini, Naismith etc. But combine this with Mirallas not being favoured (why?) and Gibson not used then you haves gap in the middle of the squad age wise. This has resulted in some lineups this season and last being completely inexperienced or some line ups frankly too old to compete in this league. No coincidence that recent improvement have come about as Lennon and Oviedo have come back into the team, players in their prime proven in the prem. Not enough of them in the squad at all. (Don't anyone post a comedy list with Kevin Nolan on you know what point I'm making).

Doesn't matter if Arteta left two years before Martinez. Moyes hadn't replaced him either, it became Martinez's job to do this when he took over especially with the decline of Pienaar and Osman. The 'hard to find' excuse is exactly that, an excuse. Moyes found both Arteta and Pienaar for 2 mill each, these players are out there and we have the money to get them. Instead we've spent close to 25 mill on defensive midfielders and 50 mill on strikers, it's all about priorities.

If you honestly think Martinez is getting the most from this team then the only logical conclusions are: Moyes was a managerial genius massively overachieving (unlikely), or Martinez has taken the quality of the squad backwards (probably not). How else do you explain a top 7 side spending 18 months in the bottom half? The answer of course is that the manager is not translating squad quality into results.

I think you also need to check your facts on how much McGeady is being paid, because you're wrong by the way.

Two things i stated was that Eto'o was a divisive figure at the club - something widely reported upon and only you seem to think differently, and that Howard was also reported to have had his back - yet again another thing widely reported by people who actually do have insight into the inner workings of the club - which i also assume you really don't despite your posturing

As for McGeady and his wages - go show me the exact figure he is on then if you know so much mate? His salary at us has only ever been guessed at - his Salary in Russia was reported though and with their tax rates then he would to be on parity be on approx the 50k mark, happy to be proven wrong when you show me the reputable source showing his salary, or maybe your just dead good mates with him like or know a local taxi driver who once had a conversation with him. More than happy for you to show me 'the facts' though, please do?

Very mature there mate, take lessons at mod school for that wit?
