Problem is mate which a lot of people are admittedly knee jerking on was bad management of the game yesterday. I'm not.personally holding that result against him but his subs and reading of the game was terrible. In theory yes kone and osman may have been the right sub, but years younger than what they are now. It cost us the game because we then ran out of ideas.

Personally the three should have been mirallas del and Baines for McCarthy Oviedo and Lennon. Then just use the pace to run at the defence, make them cause mistakes that way. Rom.was marked.out the game but with two fast wingers attacking the 1980s style defence, we could have forced the goals. Remember we nearly had one player sent off by doing just that, making them commit. Rom could have pulled 2 defenders with him creating space as.well.

And I have no coaching badges mate.

The game wasn't just the last 20 minutes though. It was 90 minutes in which time we lay siege to their goal and racked up countless shots.

The players take any blame for that defeat, not the manager. Let's put it this way: if before the game you were merely told the team Martinez would be sending out were going to pepper the opposition goal with 34 shots would you think he should choose a different line up or tactics for the day?

He spent a kings ransom and wasted it pretty much. And Spurs did have a very recent history of CL football qualification - and being robbed of a qualifying place when Chelsea won Big Ears.

In short: different metric.

In his first season he had a net spend of 3m quid Dave

Yes the season after finishing 5th a point behind Arsenal and after getting 72 points - spurs greatest ever prem total btw, he did have the Bale sale forced upon him - still managed to be in 7th when he was saxcked, what exactly was Martinez excuse when at the same point of the season AVB was sacked at we in Martinez second season was sat around 14th?

As for all that watsed money on players he did, yeah he wasted a fair amount of it thats true, he also bought Lamela who put the assist in today for spurs winner at City, and Eriksen who today scored the winner against City

He also bough Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele in his first season in charge - all three who started today

Its because you have said that is the be-all/end-all. You have said multiple times how that shows how great a manager he can be, yet we've languishing around 10th at this point for TWO YEARS. Cup runs mean absolutely f-all if you don't win them. Its ridiculous that you cant admit that we have regressed as a side being below where your antichrist Moyes had us for damn near a decade.

Moyes was a dullard manager, that was his crime for me. He had zero idea how to play attacking attractive football. I've said loads of times here that his 7th place finishes meant no more than finishing 5th or 12th. Same goes for Martinez if he gets 7th place. It's nothing. Winning cups and playing good football are our targets. Forget about CL qualification. We'd need mid 70 points for that and it isn't happening without massive cash injection.

That's the problem though, the last 20 minutes were vital in that sense. We did lay siege to them and apart from bad luck we didn't score, we couldn't break them down using our tactics. So instead of changing our approach and use mainly speed to force something we carried on with the same approach and the players then tasked to add the spark weren't good enough to do that. The west brim defence was set up to deal with crosses and to form a barricade in front of foster, they would and did struggle with direct running at them which Martinez couldn't see on the day which ultimately cost us.

Care to explain why in the past two seasons Pochettino has massively out performed Martinez with Spurs with a similar philosophy of giving youth a chance and with a similar budget for both clubs

Spours this season net spend was - 16m Euros, ours was +36m Euros (they spend 25m quid more on wages) so still we spent more combined than they did by about 6m pound.
spurs last season broke even on net spend, we spent net + 28m Euros, their wages again was 30m quid more, so overall they spent combined about 5m pounds more than us.

So overall budgets about the same, level of player when both managers took over - pretty similar, both giving youth a chance and Pochettino in the two years he has been in charge is wiping the floor with Martinez performance wise.

Pochettino took over a significantly better funded team than Martinez did. You can't just make a measurement from what spurs spent when he took over, they had a decade or more significantly outspending Everton. That's an unreal measurement you're putting forward.

As for him outperforming Martinez: how? His first season at spurs he racked up 64 points; this season they need to take more than 21 points from their last 36 to overtake Martinez's first season total. Doable? Defo. But he hasn't done it yet.

Kendall defo split the fan base, more than once. People often compare the situation now to Kendall Mk1 to justify sticking with Martinez, but that's a gross oversimplification.
