Roberto Martinez discussion

It's the Premier League mate, these games happen to teams with more money and better players than us often too.
So how come we never do it the other way round then.

As I said, something is wrong but we know nothing will change anyway so we are stuck as a midtable side.

That's a very defeatist attitude to take mate and it's contrary to where Everton are at the moment, in my opinion.

Very frustrating season, we're decimating teams, just need the goals and luck to go with it. Let's see if it arrives but to jib our manager off now would be madness.

Sadly can't call it luck given it's happenned all season. Completely run out of ideas late on in games. Whilst we crumble defensively if the shoe's on the other foot. Roberto is this kind of manager. Nothings ever going to change.

Was their only corner of the match too. The lynching of Martinez is so frenzied when we lose that all reason is chucked out the window, and objective viewing of the match is abandoned

Today the match winners didn't perform, the opposition were outstanding defensively, and we got simply desperately unlucky at times. The subs weren't great for me, but they made some sense and we had enough opportunities to score. I just don't see how this falls on Martinez, I really don't
Well done mate, I'd happily have a pint with you and your rationality.

Martinez has become the futile voodoo doll of the Lower Gwladys.

Our new overlords need to complete their buyout ASAP and line up a proper manager as priority number one. Let him plan behind the scenes, sack Martinez on the last day of the season then get the new guy in straight away.

Why wait until the end of the season? Surely we can get another 6 points from the next 36?

This is not kneejerking - Coco's subs made Pulis look like Cloughie FFS!

The manager sets them up to play that way. The manager is in sole control of the shape. The tempo and application of tactics on the pitch in a given game is the manager.

In terms of what the players were asked to do - tippy tappy around, dominate possession and sod all else - they did really well! They did exactly what was asked of them.

That's why I blame the manager, because everything he had control over he ballsed up spectacularly. Yeah, Barkley misses a sitter, but it's a result of a defence who have been so good adding pressure on the chance to take it - as for all the useless possession, we had two (at best) actual chances in that entire second half.
You can't count mate.
Barkley alone had two clear chances in the last 10, Barry had a shot blocked in the six yard box, I'm sure there's other good opportunities if I stop and have a think.
What rationale is that?? That he brought on Kone, who's legs have deserted him??
Go to bed.

Kone's a unit, was brought on to stretch the defence with his hold up play and find Lukaku some space. As a player he also provides another attacking threat in the box.
Osman has a clever pass or flick in him and Del is obvious.

To be clear though I'm not saying the manager is blameless. Of course he isn't. The subs in particular were weird and at weird times too.

But he set up the team to get 30 odd shots in today. What do people want? 50 odd?!

West Brom adjusted themselves in the second half and we find it even harder to break down.

Surely the players are to blame more. Today at least.

No mate - I'm not arsed we're top of the Alternative Shots Taken League Table.

The quality of chances matter. Any side in that situation can balloon 20+ shots on goal from anywhere. It's as pointless a stat as shots saved. I'd rather have two shots and score two goals than thirty and score none.

We did not play that game in the right manner to break down a side that set up the way they did. And that's not the players, that's the manager - everything on that pitch today was the directive of the manager, and the proof is now three years of the same thing and many more when he was at Wigan when his teams did the exact same thing; look flashy but toothless going forward, and concede soft goals.

30 shots and how many of those tested their keeper. About 2?

I'm not sure how else we could have played with a wall of West Brom there.

We dominated, the players couldn't score.

We'll only know that in the future mate, right now I think we need a bit of patience, lest we turn into Newcastle.

We had 90 minutes to do it and Coudnt we can see the pattern of the game the manager should. We losing all the time as home to utter joke of sides. But hey ho pass pass pass
what? is he supposed to go out at half time and buy a better striker than Rom??

getting the ball into people wasn't the problem, our style of play wasn't the problem. Our problem was that we couldn't finish our chances. end of.
